Head of VAT
Hybrid working between our London or Leeds office, and virtually via Microsoft Teams.
Your new role at NewDay
You will play a pivotal role in managing and overseeing all aspects of VAT compliance and strategy. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with VAT regulations, optimising VAT recovery, provide strategic guidance and advisory support, and optimise relevant processes.
0-12 months you'll deliver
- Accurate and timely filing of VAT returns, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines
- Monitor developments in VAT legislation and proactively assess their impact on the business
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement VAT strategies to deliver efficiencies
- Advise senior management on VAT implications for new products, services, and business initiatives
- Assess and manage VAT risks, ensuring robust controls are in place to mitigate potential issues
- Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including tax authorities and auditors
- Lead on negotiations with HMRC on partial exemption working with external specialists
What you'll bring
We need knowledge, experience + expertise in:
- VAT compliance and strategy within Financial Services
- Strong knowledge of UK VAT legislation and regulations
- Commercial and technically minded qualified tax professional (CTA, ACA or ACCA or equivalent)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- Engagement with HMRC
And would love you to know or develop:
- Broader tax compliance and strategy experience relevant to Financial Services
- Experience working within private equity backed companies
