About the role:

Exciting opportunity for a Legal Assistant to join our Abuse Team in Sydney. This is a permanent role, with flexibility to be either full-time or 4 days per week.

Maurice Blackburn has a long history of practising in abuse law, and of advocating on the part of survivors of childhood sexual abuse. This is a unique opportunity to establish credentials and expertise in a developing area of law.

Due to the nature of the practice, there will at times be exposure to challenging material, consequently all staff in the practice are supported through access to external psychological support as well as market leading and award winning internal vicarious trauma training.

The successful candidate will be willing to grow and develop their skills in a busy role. You will use your strong client service skills to support our clients and be in frequent contact with them. Your responsibilities will include answering and managing incoming calls, diary management, file management, preparation of correspondence, court documents and briefs of evidence, and providing day-to-day administrative support.

Key selection criteria:

In this role you will be constantly challenged and expand your skill set. The successful applicant will ideally have:

• Whilst previous experience as a Legal Assistant is ideal, we are also open to candidates with strong administration and communication skills from other industries outside of legal
• Excellent organisational skills and an ability to multi-task;
• Strong communication skills in liaising both internally and externally;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; and
• Enthusiasm and the ability to learn & grow in this area of law.
