About the role

Maurice Blackburn has a long history of practising in Abuse Law, and of advocating on the part of survivors of childhood sexual abuse. This is a unique opportunity to establish credentials and expertise in a developing area of law. Key Responsibilities:

  • Meeting with clients and taking instructions
  • Reviewing and analysing records
  • Drafting written communications to clients and opponents
  • Briefing medical experts and allied health professionals
  • Drafting court documents
  • Attending court for procedural hearings
  • Briefing and liaising with barristers

The experience we are looking for: 

We are looking for a Lawyer with strong client service focus, a personable approach and commitment to social justice. You will ideally have at least 1-3 years PAE however if you have a strong desire to forge a career within this space we want to hear from you. In addition, you will have:

  • Prior experience working within a personal injury or litigation environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build relationships and trust
  • An ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent organisational skills, with high attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills and commitment to drive matters to resolution in a timely manner
  • A strong knowledge of the relevant procedural rules relevant to personal injury practice in New South Wales
  • The ability to speak to clients from different backgrounds
  • A solutions focused outlook with a proactive approach to delivering quality outcomes
