Medical Intern - Exotics

About This Role

The exotic and zoological medicine internship at the Veterinary Health Center is a 12-month post-DVM clinical program which provides a broad experience in comparative medicine. The intern will have the opportunity to work with numerous species including exotic pets (including companion birds, poultry, reptiles, rabbits, ferrets, and rodents), wildlife, and zoo animals. The intern will gain experience in captive management, medicine, anesthesia, and surgery of exotic animals. In addition, the intern will assist in diagnosing and treating of diseases, in chemically immobilizing, and in refining and implementing programs in preventative medicine for approximately 200 animals annually at the Sunset Zoo.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • DVM or equivalent
  • Graduate of a College of Veterinary Medicine

Other Requirements:

  • Kansas Veterinary Institutional License
  • This position requires citizenship of the U.S., Canada or Mexico, Nationals of the U.S., or aliens authorized to work in the U.S. at the time of application. At this time, we regret we cannot accept applicants outside of these countries.
