Job description:

Provide leadership and coordination to deliver service priorities within a health service in accordance with best practice principles and within a collaborative multidisciplinary framework and strict legislative requirements.

The Role

  • Provide leadership and coordination to deliver service priorities within a health service in accordance with best practice principles and within a collaborative multidisciplinary framework and strict legislative requirements.
  • Responsible for the ongoing management of the Voluntary Assisted Dying Navigation Service including human resources, service preparedness and delivery, and financial and resource management within a collaborative multidisciplinary framework.
  • Develop strong working relationships in order to effectively liaise, consult and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders, including the VAD Commission, VAD Pharmacy Service, VAD clinical providers and other services as required.
  • Lead and participate in committees and meetings as required and provide expert advice and recommendations to the Health Executive and relevant committees in relation to voluntary assisted dying practices, policies and procedures.
  • Provide, and oversee others to provide, consistent and accurate information about VAD and access to VAD in Tasmania, including working with individuals and facilities to support participation and non-participation in voluntary assisted dying as appropriate, including information and education sessions about VAD.
  • Provide leadership and expert consultancy in the management of complex cases, facilitate an interdisciplinary approach to navigation and care planning, and provide oversight and support to the service staff.
  • Liaise with patients, families, carers, health practitioners, health care workers and others who may be seeking information about or access to voluntary assisted dying.

Details of Appointment

Fixed term part time, day worker position, working 60.8 hours per fortnight, commencing from as soon as possible until 28 September 2025.

Classification: 

Salary $123,717 - $134,336 per annum (pro rata) + 12% superannuation + access to salary packaging

  • Please note that access to salaries beyond $130,900 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme.
  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022

Eligibility

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  • Satisfactory completion of an approved allied health professional tertiary qualification/program of study and registered with the relevant National Board or, in the case of self-regulated allied health professions, full membership/eligible for membership with the relevant professional association.

*Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Relevant postgraduate qualification and/or experience in practice management, health service management and/or leadership and service design
  • Understanding of the End-of-Life Choices (Voluntary Assisted Dying) Act 2021
  • Current Driver’s Licence

Under particular circumstances employees may be required to undertake a new conviction check.
