Job description:

The Project Manager position will play a critical role in managing the implementation of the Department of State Growth’s (Skills Tasmania) Core Systems Replacement Project (CSRP). The CSRP is a transformational project that is replacing two of Skills Tasmania’s business critical information technology systems. As a leader in the project team, the role will work across the project to coordinate delivery of key milestones, ensure effective governance and risk management through to the new system going live.

Period of Appointment

Appointment to the role is on a fixed-term, flexible basis (up to 73.5 hours per fortnight) for 12 months. 

Duties

• Coordinate the high-level sequencing of project activities across the CSRP teams (technical solution and change and training) and monitor progress against the project plan and milestones.
 
• Monitor the project benefits realisation pathway and manage the project budget, governance and risk, including Secretariat support for the CSRP Steering Committee.
 
• Develop frameworks, strategies and plans to support the delivery of key project activities, such as a data migration strategy that includes a decision framework for transitioning data to the new system and a ‘go-live’ plan.
 
• Be the central point of contact and manage the contractual relationship with the IT system provider.
 
• Establish and manage a panel of preferred providers for surge resource capacity, as needed, to support delivery of the project.
 
• Lead and coordinate engagement across the CSRP teams into the Australian Government’s Vocational Education and Training (VET) Data Streamlining (VDS) program.
 
• Represent Skills Tasmania in relevant working groups associated with the VDS program.
 
• Maintain various project documents and provide both written and verbal advice in relation to the CSRP to senior managers, the Departmental Executive and Minister, as required.
 
• Support and oversight key communication and change activities as they relate to the CSRP project plan.
