Job description:
To strengthen and build TMAG’s brand and profile through the delivery of contemporary and innovative communication and marketing strategies, and work to ensure TMAG is a ‘top of mind’ cultural destination for Tasmanians and tourists.

Period of Appointment
Appointment to the role is on a fixed term full time basis (up to 73.5 hours per fortnight) for 12 months.
Duties
- Develop and deliver communication, marketing, and content strategies for TMAG.
- Work collaboratively across TMAG to develop stories and content to raise the awareness of TMAG and all it does with key stakeholders including the Tasmanian community and visitors to Tasmania.
- Analyse division target audiences, communication channels and language to maximise the effectiveness and relevance of communication activities.
- Provide support and advice to TMAG Executive on organisational communication policies and other communication matters to enable TMAG to deliver strong and consistent messages that enhance public understanding of TMAG’s collection, exhibition, stories, role and reputation.
- Develop marketing plans and coordinate workflow.
- Manage communication channels to internal and external stakeholders through content development for the TMAG website, internal and external newsletters, electronic direct mail and social media.
- Coordinate proactive and planned media engagement to help raise the profile of the organisation, its services, programs and initiatives including events and public relations.
- Write communication plans, government briefs, media releases and public relations material that align with TMAG strategies and brand guidelines whilst ensuring that Department of State Growth and Minister’s office protocols are followed.
- Provide advice to the TMAG Executive on stakeholder engagement strategies (including publications, media and other communications activities) to support organisational priorities.
- Provide guidance and leadership to staff including the co-ordination and supervision of their duties and professional development opportunities.
- Coordinate the communications and marketing budget.
- Undertake projects as identified by the Deputy Director – Audience Engagement as required.
Desirable Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant subject such as communication, media and marketing, or equivalent experience
- An awareness of the role museums and/or Art Galleries as interpretative, educational, research, scientific and curatorial institutions
- A current drivers licence
