Job description:

Supervise Tasmania Legal Aid’s (TLA) IT Team and contractors.

Period of Appointment

Fixed term for twelve (12) months

Hours per fortnight

73.50 hours per fortnight - flexible options available. 

Duties

  • Provide advice to the Associate Director Business Services, with a focus on achieving the organisation’s strategic goals.
  • Liaise and consult with external IT stakeholders to ensure TLA has a well-functioning and safe IT environment.
  • Plan, document, implement and support operating systems, servers, corporate databases and networks including installations, upgrades and maintenance.
  • Undertake capacity planning, performance monitoring and tuning activities related to operating systems, corporate database and networks.
  • Provide technical advice to management on infrastructure and IT communications to enable improvements in efficiency and/or service delivery to TLA.
  • Provide supervision and direction for IT contractors engaged by TLA.
  • Lead and assist the TLA IT Team in providing all IT services required for TLA to operate.
  • Assist in the planning, policy development, decision-making and problem solving functions undertaken by Business Services.
  • Plan for and participate in IT and Business Services related projects, by undertaking project management tasks, providing plain English documentation for technical staff, end users and managers on IT and other project related matters.
  • Respond to out of hours call-outs relating to TLA’s IT environment as required.
  • Participate and effectively contribute to and promote activities that support the achievement of strategic goals and objectives.
  • Perform such other professional duties or projects as required from time to time in accordance with the skills, competence, and training of the occupant.

Desirable Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in information science or a related discipline.
  • Current Driver’s Licence 
  • A minimum of three years IT Systems Administration experience
