About the role:

We're seeking an experienced and passionate State Politics Reporter to join our dynamic and ratings-leading 7 Tasmania News team based in Hobart

You will be responsible for identifying, creating and delivering compelling news for our TV audience. The successful candidate will be genuinely interested in Tasmanian politics, have existing contact networks or the ability to develop an impressive contacts list, and be excited about providing our viewers with the most relevant, up to date news.

Please note: This role will be required to cover sensitive and potentially emotionally challenging news events from a people, product, and rostering perspective.

Experience we’re looking for:

  • A willingness to cover, or experience in coveringstate politics is a must!
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience in journalism with solid news judgement.
  • Strong, accurate story telling skills – making the complex easy to understand.
  • Good knowledge of or the ability to quickly adapt to news production and non-linear editing systems (we use iNEWS).
  • Solid understanding of media law and ethics.
