UHW Director of Informatics

Position Summary

University Health and Wellbeing Director of Informatics is charged with the ability to lead the IT Team within the Unit and acting on behalf of the Assistant Provost in relationship to technology. The Director of Informatics is responsible for the strategic planning to ensure IT capacity, and usability across the Unit landscape. Director of Informatics will work closely with Unit Fiscal Officers, to develop, implement and maintain IT budget for the academic fiscal year. The Director of Informatics will also consult senior-level stakeholders within the Unit to identify business and technology needs, perform gap analysis, SWOT, and other analysis exercises to set direction for IT strategy. The Director of Informatics will provide Unit IT communication to stakeholders, ensuring all are informed of IT actions and planning.

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business or a related information technology field, with coursework in an information technology specialization related to the area of employment; and more than eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in an information technology area related to the duties to be performed, including experience overseeing large, complex or critical information technology projects; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Valid driver's license required.

Desired Qualifications

Experience implementing and transitioning to operations, integrated Healthcare IT systems including EHR clinical systems (ex. Athena, Epic, Cerner).


Experience in the following technologies: 
Health and Clinical technologies
Classroom support and management Industry common workstation/server operating systems
Industry common productivity suites
Physical networking and associated protocols
Knowledge in the areas of virtualization and storage systems Security systems including Firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM Experience in the healthcare industry, particularly delivery systems, and business-related processes, technology and practices, functions and architectures
Clinical Informatics Certification
Academic ambulatory healthcare experience of comparable size and complexity as University Health and Wellbeing
