The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment & Water (DCCEEW) are looking for a Principal Solution Architect to join a dynamic and growing IT team!
About the role
The Principal Solution Architect works closely with a team of Solution Architects to create technology solutions that align with enterprise standards and roadmaps. This role involves developing capability models, analysing solution options, and collaborating with technology teams to document and implement end-to-end solution designs on schedule.
As the Principal Solution Architect, your key responsibilities will include defining solutions that meet business demands and align with enterprise architecture, working with service providers to ensure IT solutions deliver business benefits, and managing service level agreements. You will be responsible for interpreting business requirements, informing strategic technology investments, and ensuring solutions are implemented as expected.
In this role, you will be challenged with balancing project interdependencies, developing tailored solutions to align with various architectures, and staying current with industry best practices.
About you

- Outstanding stakeholder engagement skills, fostering strong relationships and ensuring alignment with diverse stakeholders to achieve outcomes
- Capable of driving outcomes while effectively involving stakeholders throughout the process to foster collaboration and buy-in
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Demonstrated experience as a solution architect for complex, large-scale IT projects involving multiple systems and stakeholders
- Extensive experience implementing IT solutions in line with project management methodologies
- Demonstrated experience using TOGAF (Certification in TOGAF is preferred)
- Experience in using Enterprise Architecture tools e.g. Microsoft Visio, Ardoq
- Experience in some of the following technologies/frameworks:
- Application architecture & Agile delivery
- Software Development Lifecycle
- .NET or Python Development
- Integration platforms e.g. Microsoft Azure Integration Services, MuleSoft
- Cloud infrastructure e.g. Microsoft Azure and AWS
- CRM systems e.g. Salesforce
- Mobile technology and development
- Service Orientated Architecture (SOA)
- Enterprise Service Bus (ESB)
- Cloud-based systems
- Experience in application, data and technology modelling
Essential requirements
- Tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated equivalent industry/professional experience at a senior level, with demonstrated commitment to ongoing.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a solution architecture role or similar.
