  • Two temporary opportunities - 6 months and 12 months, with possibility of extension
  • Plus creation of a Talent Pool for future opportunities
  • Full-time at 35 hours per week plus FlexTime
  • Located in Newcastle, Parramatta or NSW office location by negotiation with hybrid working supported
  • Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $129,464 to $142,665 plus super

 

Opportunity to join the Water Group in our Licensing and Approvals team who are seeking to appoint a Senior Water Regulation Officer to plan, undertake and monitor complex and/or sensitive licensing and approval-related projects and programs to ensure outcomes are consistent and compatible with statewide departmental standards.

This role also co-ordinates inspections, assessments and determinations of applications for activities requiring a licence or approval, as well as co-ordinating and leading stakeholder engagement forums to provide specialist information to water users, staff and other community and government partners.

 

About You

To be successful in the role you will have experience in applying legislation, policies, procedures and other regulatory instruments relevant to licensing and approvals, as well as a comprehensive understanding of the aims and principles of sustainable natural resource management especially with respect to flood works and Floodplain Management Plans

As a subject matter expert , you will have the demonstrated ability to manage and coordinate multiple licensing and approval activities in accordance the water management legislation, policy and procedures to protect natural resources access and community access rights to water, and undertaking information sharing activities to increase customer and community understanding of water resource legislation and policy frameworks.

You have strong collaboration skills, supporting and facilitating information sharing and education across DCCEEW Water, NRAR and WaterNSW teams by transferring and sharing knowledge and skills, as well as providing mentoring and building the capability of your peers.

You are experienced in maintaining an effective, efficient, transparent and accountable service, and delivering agreed outcomes in a high workload environment to maintain public confidence in the applications of the water management regulations.
