Join the Energy Transformation of NSW – TAF Investment Committee Member
The Energy Corporation of NSW (EnergyCo) is at the forefront of one of the most significant infrastructure transformations in the state’s history. As a statutory authority under the Energy and Utilities Administration Act 1987, EnergyCo leads the delivery of Renewable Energy Zones (REZs) under the NSW Government’s Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap. EnergyCo is the appointed Infrastructure Planner for the State’s first five REZs: Central-West Orana, New England, South West, Hunter-Central Coast, and Illawarra.
To support this mission, the NSW Government established the $2.4 billion Transmission Acceleration Facility (TAF), a revolving capital facility designed to accelerate the development of critical transmission and enabling infrastructure. The TAF enables EnergyCo to fund the development phase of electricity infrastructure projects, recovering costs from network operators, and bringing forward critical energy infrastructure to market faster and at lower cost to consumers.
EnergyCo is seeking expressions of interest for appointment to the Transmission Acceleration Facility Investment Committee (TAF IC). The Committee plays a vital advisory role to the EnergyCo Board and Chief Executive, providing expert guidance on financial risks and the recoverability of funding proposals for eligible infrastructure projects. The TAF IC has operated since November 2023 and acts in an advisory capacity only; all funding decisions are made by the EnergyCo Board.
About the Role
We are seeking candidates with deep expertise in the delivery of major infrastructure projects, particularly those involving construction, procurement, and capital investment. Ideal candidates will have:
- Extensive experience in managing large-scale infrastructure or construction projects, including competitive tendering, contracting, budgeting, and stakeholder engagement.
- A strong understanding of energy infrastructure, including transmission networks, renewable generation, and storage systems.
- Familiarity with energy sector regulation and policy.
Candidates must demonstrate independence, integrity, and a strong cultural fit with the EnergyCo Board and fellow Committee members. Appointments will reflect NSW Treasury’s diversity targets.
Commitment and Remuneration
The Committee meets monthly or as required. Members will be remunerated with a sitting fee of $35,000 p.a., aligned with NSW Public Sector Framework rates. Additional advisory work may be separately contracted.
