Our Infrastructure Partnerships Unit is currently seeking to appoint an Associate Director to lead complex commercial arrangements and grant programs for energy infrastructure.

 

The Energy Infrastructure Division plays a key role in ensuring a safe, secure and reliable energy supply as we transition to a clean, affordable energy future. We oversee infrastructure across generation, storage, transmission, and distribution, including market arrangements. Responsibilities include policy stewardship, safety and technical advice and regulation, managing agreements for investment and operations, and emergency coordination across the energy sector.

 

About the role

 

  • Provide commercial advice and manage transactions to support executive decision-making.
  • Oversee competitive grant and direct negotiation processes to ensure they maintain integrity, deliver outcomes and align with government policies.
  • Manage multi-million-dollar infrastructure contracts, safeguarding legal and financial interests.
  • Prepare high-level reports and briefings on sensitive commercial matters.
  • Develop and implement best-practice governance and contract management frameworks.
  • Drive strategic collaboration with regulators, industry, and stakeholders to support energy investment.
  • Provide positive leadership to a high-performing teams in procurement, negotiation, and infrastructure delivery.

 

About You

 

  • Proven experience in developing and implementing policy frameworks for infrastructure delivery and energy markets.
  • Strong leadership in governance, procurement, and contract management within complex or government settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish enterprise-wide governance frameworks aligned with NSW Government and ICAC guidelines.
  • In-depth knowledge of NSW Government procurement policies, probity, and commercial risk management.
  • At least 10 years of professional experience in the Australian electricity sector in industry or government.

 

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent professional experience and training.
