JOB SUMMARY:

The Art Director will be responsible for concept development, craftsmanship and final execution of creative work for the Global UXUI Experience Design team across Universal Destinations & Experiences marketing and product development initiatives. This role requires strong collaboration skills with a variety of global stakeholders across the organization, including UDX and destination specific Marketing & Sales teams, Legal, Universal Creative, Entertainment, Global Brand Management, Licensed Partners and Parks Technology to ensure innovative, brand consistent and strategic alignment between teams and delivery of creative solutions. This position is part of a new Digital Creative Studio function within the Global UXUI Experience Design program focused on the following: driving UDX Global Brand Guidelines & Philosophy across touchpoints, delivering Excellence in craft and execution of experience design solutions, drive evolution and development of brand defining content deliverables, expand user interface inclusive of interactive, motion & sound creative, and asset development for wayfinding, emerging technology and new interaction models.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborates with UXUI Experience Design team members, Business Segment Pod Leaders, Content Strategists and Copywriters to concept and execute effective creative concepts for digital platforms using the Global Design System as the foundational framework. Conducts brainstorming sessions, presents rough conceptual wireframes and high-fidelity comps for all digital applications. Creates experience/journey maps and is able to share in multiple forums. Brings innovative, brand distinctive ideas to the table, responding proactively to design problems and challenges. Leads by example, driving the end product to be outstanding and exemplary with the goal of pushing the UDX brand forward.
  • Oversees the execution of the experience design work and creative strategy output. Is readily available for timely creative guidance or approval. Attends GUXUI Peer Reviews as well as Lift meetings with creative colleagues to ensure work is brand consistent, infuses GDS capabilities into the Marketing Run projects and that this work is executed with a high level of craftsmanship, maintaining the vision and tone of the UDX brand design ethos. Drives the work of the team to be effective and innovative.
  • Synthesize product design and consumer trends and recommend clear, specific solutions to meet consumer needs. Execute and provide design artifacts that support UXUI best practices across integration (customer and technical) points to provide a superior, seamless experience from daily improvements to longer-term strategies.
  • Lead content design functions, collaborating with partners across the company to understand the needs of our users and support the establishment of end-to-end solutions designed to best serve those needs.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required – Graphic Design, Human Centered Interaction and/or Interaction Design combined with outstanding creative portfolio.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 7+ years experience in an advertising agency, in-house agency, graphic design field, or marketing environment with a portfolio of relevant creative work. Note Graphic Design also called Visual Communication Design, VCD.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in e-commerce sites, rewards/engagement and loyalty programs working with data-driven product development teams. Must present a portfolio of work that illustrates strong UX, visual design, and interaction design excellence, brand creation.
  • Experience with a wide array of media including print, broadcast, online, outdoor, and events/displays.
  • Experience in like industry (travel, tourism, entertainment) and with like targets/demographics (teens/tweens, vacationers, Floridians, Hispanics) a plus.
  • Highly proficient in Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, PowerPoint, and Keynote.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Requires strong organizational, interpersonal, problem solving and presentation skills.
  • Thorough understanding of photography, video, motion design, illustration, typography, and color theory.
  • Collaborative/Team Oriented – ability to manage challenging situations.
  • Interested in social and Global cultural trends.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • ; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
