JOB SUMMARY: Protection of the company’s assets by the prevention of theft by way of observing, detecting, and apprehending shoplifters as well as deterring additional illegal activity that may occur on Universal Orlando Resort property.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Proactively conducts undercover surveillance of guests and employees as it relates to theft to include performing behavioral detection for special events
  • Adheres to specialized observational policies in order to attain productive apprehensions
  • Initiates professional suspect apprehension for investigation of retail theft and collaborate with Law Enforcement agencies to report or investigate crimes
  • Conducts interviews with shoplifting suspects to successfully recover stolen merchandise and assists Investigators with internal theft cases
  • Prepares detailed written reports; gathers and documents evidence as it relates to observed thefts, confiscated tickets, and witness statements for internal theft cases
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: Associate’s degree (AA) is preferred. Interest in Criminal Justice or Hospitality Management, Bi-lingual a plus.

EXPERIENCE: 1-3 years in retail theft or loss prevention investigations preferred. A background check is mandatory and results must meet Universal Orlando’s background check criteria; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Proficiency in typing, report writing, Microsoft office, and basic email/Internet usage. Understand and apply aspects of theft detection and apprehension to studio operations. Ability to defuse hostile/confrontational situations in a professional manner. Ability to work undercover alongside law enforcement officers.

A 4-6 week training program is offered which includes classroom policies and procedures, field training, observation periods, and practical application with requirements to successfully pass a live scenario and written certification test.
