JOB SUMMARY:
The Technical Content Specialist is responsible for the creation of digital content in the best format that suits the training needs of Tech Services. This includes written, video, AR/VR, presentation style, and web-based training for PQS modules and other training materials as directed. The position will also execute projects involving technology upgrades and is responsible to train users on the new technology. The role is expected to professionally collaborate with all departments of Tech Services including engineering and leadership in order to complete job responsibilities.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop technical training manuals for PQS, maintenance guides and other documentation by consolidating information from various sources into a user-friendly format with a focus toward on-line use by the trainee.
- Work closely with the technicians, engineers and management to document step-by-step procedures that incorporate high-level understanding of the operation of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and related systems. Incorporate ride control system functionalities, where applicable, into an integrated explanation of total system operation for a complete training approach.
- Project management of new technology such as tablet rollout, digitization of processes, learning software integration. Assist in other larger technology efforts for Tech Services by working with other departments and coordinating capital project efforts. Work with process improvement projects involving Maximo efficiencies.
- Provide technical advice for the ongoing development of the Training program within Technical Services. Meet with the Trainers from each area to assist them with planning and development.
- Provide feedback and guidance to help ensure a successful training strategy that meets the goals of Technical Services management.
- Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, electrical/mechanical systems with an emphasis on technical writing, or degree in Immersive Learning in virtual reality.
- Equivalent experience in lieu of education is acceptable.
EXPERIENCE:
- 5+ years writing compliance, technically oriented procedures, or documentations.
- Previous experience in writing or developing training materials is desired;
- or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Proficiency in Adobe suite (picture/video editing)
- Proficiency in web-based learning tools
- Knowledge of advanced learning tools such as AR/VR training.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This role requires flexibility in order to complete projects. Majority of the time will be spent on 1st shift, with frequent adjustments to 2nd or 3rd shift, Monday through Friday.
