JOB SUMMARY:

The Supervisor, Qualitative Field Research, will oversee the qualitative data collection activities conducted by the qualitative Field teams in Hollywood and Orlando. This role involves supervising and supporting the Qualitative Team Captains, Qualitative Research Coordinators, Qualitative Data Collection Specialists, and Qualitative Research Auditors ensuring the successful execution of qualitative projects. The Supervisor will be responsible for strategic planning, resource management, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of qualitative research projects.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Team Leadership and Oversight
    • Lead and manage the daily operations of a team of Qualitative Team Captains, Qualitative Research Coordinators, Qualitative Data Collection Specialists, and Qualitative Research Auditors.
    • Provide guidance, motivation, and coaching to team members to foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
    • Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback for professional growth and development.
    • Ensure adherence to both UDX and Qualitative Field Team protocols and guidelines to maintain high standards of data quality.
    • Regularly conduct in-field visits to observe, coach, and mentor team members, addressing any issues promptly.
    • Schedule and conduct one-on-one meetings with team members on a bi-weekly basis to discuss performance, provide feedback, and set goals.
    • Develop and implement strategies to improve both individual team member and overall team performance and efficiency.
  • Daily Qualitative Project Management
    • Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, and deliverables, to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
    • Monitor project timelines and resource allocation to ensure projects stay on track and meet quality standards.
    • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to align project objectives and deliverables, ensuring seamless integration with broader organizational initiatives.
    • Conduct regular audits and quality assurance checks, implementing corrective actions as needed.
    • Reconcile weekly payroll and approve team member schedule swaps to ensure adequate staffing levels.
    • Attend park operations meetings and send out email updates to keep stakeholders informed of project progress.
    • Schedule and conduct team meetings to review project progress, address any issues, and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
    • Collaborate with the Qualitative and Ethnographic team to refine survey instruments and methodologies, ensuring they are aligned with research objectives and best practices.
  • Qualitative Data Collection and Analysis
    • Support the team in conducting unstructured and semi-structured interviews, fixed counts/observations to gather valuable qualitative data.
    • Assist in coding data and identifying themes to ensure accurate and meaningful analysis.
    • Review and approve detailed reports and documentation to ensure data integrity and reliability.
    • Engage in data collection, coding, analysis, and dissemination efforts as required/appropriate, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of innovative qualitative data collection and analysis methodologies to enhance the quality and efficiency of research projects.
  • Qualitative Field Team Training and Development
    • Oversee the field qualitative training programs, including classroom preparation and delivery, associated documentation, administrative functions, and required communication.
    • Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the team, encouraging team members to pursue additional training.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement innovative solutions to enhance team performance and efficiency.
    • Deliver and facilitate structured training and development programs and initiatives to support the continuous growth and development of team members.
    • Develop training materials and conduct training sessions for all team members working on qualitative field projects, ensuring consistency and quality in training delivery.
    • Collaborate with senior management and other departments to align training initiatives with organizational goals and strategic objectives.
    • Organize and lead workshops and seminars on advanced qualitative research techniques and data analysis methodologies.
  • Administrative Support and Oversight
    • Compile, update, and maintain data on spreadsheets and word processing documents to ensure accurate and up-to-date records.
    • Regularly review performance tracking metrics completed by the Coordinators and Team Captains to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
    • Update leadership team on any ongoing issues and provide recommendations for resolution.
    • Assist in testing new technology to ensure it meets the needs of the team and enhances research capabilities.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, Human Factors, Market Research, or other Social Science or Business Field with research specialization is required for this role.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 2+ years of experience in qualitative research, data collection, including 2+ years of supervisory experience leading teams, preferably in field research, required.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • This role requires significant mobility across multiple properties.
  • Flexibility in hours worked to accommodate research needs, including nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions in real-time.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with team members and stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using technology for data collection and analysis.
  • Commitment to maintaining the confidentiality and integrity of data.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
