Senior Content Strategist, Discover Universal – Audio and Video

Universal Orlando Resort believes in-person collaboration is key to our success. Many of our Team Members work in a hybrid capacity, contributing from the workplace a minimum of three days per week. JOB SUMMARY:

The Discover Universal Team plays a critical role in driving deep engagement with our target audience through content and storytelling. As a Senior Content Strategist for Discover Universal, this team member will be responsible for developing original compelling audio and video storytelling to engage the audiences of Universal Orlando Resort, including but not limited to the Discover Universal Podcast and existing YouTube series.

This role will be expected to assist the Manager, Discover Universal Audio/Video with digital marketing strategy and execution, as well as oversee podcast pre-production, production, post-production, and promotional support.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Content Development and Execution:
    • Conceptualize and pitch programming ideas/segments and show formats.
    • Own and operate the development and execution of all assigned audio and video content, acting as the project lead.
    • Work closely with the creative team, production team, and talent on the show format, establishing assignments and deliverables.
    • Develop distribution plans with internal and external partners to support and amplify content.
    • Oversee multiple audio and/or video productions at any given time.
  • Content Strategy & Planning:
    • Support the Manager, Discover Universal Audio/Video in development of the overall Content Roadmap for the team.
    • Lead the development of original audio and video content programs/series.
    • Research content best practices and immerse oneself in the competition to create rich insights for project plans.
    • Develop and present clear ideas and vision for the project through the creation of creative briefs, business inputs, and other necessary documentation.
    • Lead the concepting and creative review process while partnering with internal and external creative partners.
    • Produce plans that aim to strategically activate across as many channels as possible to maximize reach.
    • Design and present compelling pitch decks to all levels of leadership.
    • Pull show and episode analytics for internal and external reporting purposes.
    • Consistently measure success and optimize based on findings.
  • Marketing & Sales Organization Integration:
    • Liaise with other teams including (but not limited to) Comms Planning, Brand Strategy, Segment Strategy, Social Media, Paid Media, Operations, and Resort Marketing to support business needs and development.
    • Work with internal and external partners to plan, develop, and execute content projects.
    • Support the development of presentations to gain both internal and external buy-in and approvals on projects.
    • Foster and build strategic relationships with internal and external partners.
    • Work with Project Managers to ensure milestones are hitting deadlines and stakeholders have up to date information.
    • Delegate work to direct reports (when available).
    • Develop and guide potential direct reports (when available) and ensure they are working efficiently and happily.
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, Broadcast, Advertising, Media Production, Digital Media, Public Relations, or Social Media is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 3+ year experience in communications, marketing, social media, digital media, podcasting, broadcast journalism, radio, production, content marketing, or digital communications.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Expert familiarity with the digital content landscape including content distribution strategies and best practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks while in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
  • Advanced skills in creating and presenting compelling creative pitches and related decks.
  • Proven ability to work in a matrix organization leading high-level projects, including Content, Product, Marketing, PR, Creative, Legal, Promotions, and more.
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of video production and post-production processes along with the best practices and technologies that support them.
