JOB SUMMARY: Supervises the day-to-day operation of welders and machinist or painters and fiberglass technicians. Facilitates the hiring, training and scheduling of employees for work area.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises the Central Shops technicians with hands on involvement. Responds to all attraction needs and works to resolve such issues in an expedient manner. Interfaces with all shifts on a daily basis to ensure shop work continues in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for training, development and scheduling all employees of the Supervisor’s maintenance department. Administers Universal Orlando policies and procedures, to include disciplinary action, counseling and attendance tracking. Assists with the hiring process and performing staffing selections.
  • Troubleshooting problem situations. Works with engineers to improve operational reliability, safety and serviceability for rides, shows and facilities.
  • Maintains records of maintenance repairs for daily work completed.
  • Manage time and attendance, vacations, PTO time, leave of absence, etc.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: Associate degree or technical school preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years technical and trade experience required.
  • 1+ years Supervisory experience and Universal Orlando leadership role experience required.
  • Must be knowledgeable in various welding methods to include Stick, Mig and Tig on steel, stainless, aluminum, bi-metallic and other materials or knowledgeable in the structural lay up of composite matting materials as well as grinding and prep for repairs of finished products and knowledge of paints, performance characteristics and correct application techniques; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: NAARSO Level 1 certification

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Must be able to work from drawings, sketches, verbal and written instructions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills needed, and proficiency in MS Office, MAXIMO, and SharePoint required.
