Universal Horror Unleashed is a terrifyingly unique experience that will bring haunts to Las Vegas year-round. Located at Area 15 is the heart of horror – we would love to have you haunting alongside us! With the nature of this experience comes a unique working environment. You will find yourself working in dark environments around special effects including strobe lights, fog, artificial smells, and more. The working hours will be unique, typically spanning over late evenings/nights and weekends (holidays included). JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible to contribute and maintain site Environmental, Health & Safety processes in conformance with local regulation, Global EHS MODEL and individual Global EHS Standards. Applies EHS knowledge to initiate, promote, and implement EHS strategy, plans, programs, and processes for assigned area including critical controls. Drives identification, implementation, and monitoring of environmental, health and safety risks, designs and conducts localized training, and ensures retention of appropriate records. Influences work across teams, EHS peers, and areas to include projects and team activities. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Hazard ID and Risk Assessment: Conduct hazard identification in well-known tasks and dynamic conditions. Uses human factors and knowledge to identify causation, consequences, risk controls to include critical controls and potential failures in dynamic conditions. Contributes to the identification of risk factors, analysis, and prioritization of EHS risk associated with known and routine work processes. Advise on and support of implementation of controls, including critical controls for risk minimization/mitigation strategies. Liaise with UDX EHS team for complex and non-routine risks. Leverages work hardening, agility testing and other protocols to control repetitive motion incidents.
  • Operations: Support implementation of and monitor compliance with management system, policy, and procedures, impacted EHS regulation. Build relationships as a basis for influence with managers, understand the limitations of written procedures, support and motivate management to demonstrate leadership and influence performance, facilitate, monitor, and provide feedback on the conformance with plans to reduce hazards and impacts and associated risks, provide day to day proactive and collaborative technical advice and support to assigned business area regarding objectives, participate in emergency response and on-call processes. Conduct monitoring/sampling as required for occupational health and permit conformance. Prepare exposure notifications and other associated localized communications and documents. 
  • Performance: Mentor management to understand why work tasks as executed may differ procedures as written, implement activities to monitor performance, monitor the integrity and effectiveness of controls with emphasis on critical /high risk controls to identify actual and potential failures, coordinate and participate in routine inspection activities to monitor use of hazard controls and evaluate conformance, monitor and report on compliance with standards, processes, risk mitigation, and action plans, prepare and use equipment to undertake basic measurements and monitoring of work environment, contribute to observations of TM for conformance, perform serious incident investigations, analyze, record and prepare reports containing causes, control failures, contributions and recommended corrective actions,  Support management reviews to assess, monitor, and identify areas for improvement and make recommendations related to the management system, culture, and action plans.
  • Support: Build relationships as a “trusted advisor” to influence management teams’ understanding of regulations, standards, action plans and expectation. Prepare and/or contribute to the preparation of OJT and localized formal EHS training materials and SOPs, conduct, or arrange for formal and OJT training as required by local work conditions, provide varied, accurate and up-to-date information related to technical matters, conformance, performance. Actively collaborate with EHS peers, share resources, foster communication, and remain aligned to a single EHS vision and mission with one set of established goals and objectives. Supports and collaborates with all EHS elements related to resources and communications for consistency and clarity of message with business partners related to construction, fire, environmental affairs, occupational health, standards, training, and assurance elements. Supports operational improvements based on Worker’s Compensation claims. Liaise with local regulatory authorities during investigations, inspections, and formal reporting situations. Establishes and monitors effectiveness of agility testing, work hardening and first responder programs.
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UDX policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Supervises a Non-Exempt team

QUALIFICATIONS:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities (KSAs) required.

  • Must be self-starter with solid working knowledge of applicable Environmental, Health & Safety regulations.
  • Possess business acumen and strong communication skills to identify, analyze and act on information in a range of workplace conditions and ability to plan and evaluate approaches to sometimes unpredicted problems within a framework of existing operations and processes.
  • Ability to influence and work on a team by applying communication, engagement, and skills to promote and support change and utilize mentoring skills to develop capability of management team members.
  • Basic ability to develop focused Action Plans, forecast trends, and develop short term strategic plans.
  • Strong computer skills with Microsoft office and presentation development and delivery.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Certified Safety Professional, CIH or other equivalent certification is preferred.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Engineering or Management, Public Health, Biological or Educational Sciences or associated degree is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years in Environmental, Health and Safety experience including EHS management system maintenance, risk assessment analysis, and technical hand-on operational experience is required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Technical hands-on operational experience includes 3+ years of experience to be considered competent in at least two EHS elements within assigned role.  At least basic knowledge of in at least two additional elements; topics considered are EHS regulatory understanding and application, standards development and implementation, inspections and audits, facilitation of regulatory visits/communications, incident response and management, incident investigation and reporting, corrective action plans and controls assignment, training and presentations, Hazard identification and analysis, recordkeeping.
