Universal Horror Unleashed is a terrifyingly unique experience that will bring haunts to Las Vegas year-round. Located at Area 15 is the heart of horror – we would love to have you haunting alongside us! With the nature of this experience comes a unique working environment. You will find yourself working in dark environments around special effects including strobe lights, fog, artificial smells, and more. The working hours will be unique, typically spanning over late evenings/nights and weekends (holidays included). JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for the execution and maintenance in the application of advanced SFX makeup and prosthetics for Universal Horror Unleashed. Utilizes knowledge of color theory, materials and tools, and techniques including airbrushing, aging, and fitting and the application of advanced multi-piece silicon and/or latex prosthetics and prosthetic hair pieces. Maintains the integrity and creative intent of each design in alignment with Universal standards.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides the application and care of all forms of SFX and theatrical makeup and prosthetics. Ensures that all makeup needs are pre-set and ready for use before the arrival of Performers each day. Provides the application, piece prep, removal, and care of all forms of SFX makeup and prosthetics. Maintains knowledge of all materials and tools, applying various sized prosthetics, such as wounds, cheeks, foreheads/brows, bald caps, usage of airbrush and aging techniques.
- Inspects and maintains prosthetics with regular maintenance of pieces. Troubleshoots and communicates issues to leadership with applications and techniques to ensure show quality and approved designed looks. Inspects and maintains prosthetics with regular maintenance of pieces. Communicates concerns to leadership to ensure sustainable use of all materials and tools.
- Maintains equipment, supplies, tools, and the highest levels of cleanliness and sanitation in each workstation and the SFX Makeup & Prosthetics area.
- Participates in makeup and prosthetic tests, fittings, dress rehearsals, and show openings.
- Provides wig and hair support for all Public Relations, Marketing, seasonal overlays and special events.
- Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UDX policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Some work may require contact with latex, wool, fur, and other allergens.
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities (KSAs) required.
- Must be proficient of all materials and supplies in SFX Makeup & Prosthetics included but not limited to the application and maintenance of latex and silicone prosthetics, airbrushing, aging.
- Ability to identify and match colors.
- Ability to provide strong customer service skills.
- Must be able to work well under pressure and adapt to changes quickly.
- Strong communication skills, highly organized, and able to prioritize numerous tasks.
- Must be able to work a flexible and varying schedule based on business demands.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Nevada state certifications are required, including OSHA 10 certification and Nevada Cosmetology license.
- Graduate of certified Makeup school is preferred.
EDUCATION
- Technical school, Associates, or Bachelor’s degree in Theater or related field is preferred.
EXPERIENCE
- 3+ years of experience with theatrical makeup and prosthetic application is required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
