JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Director, UDX Communications, is a key position for an experienced and visionary leader who will drive the creation of communications strategies, campaigns, events, and content designed for current and prospective team members worldwide. This role and its team will shape and deliver engaging communications that inform, inspire, align, connect, and engage Team members across our Destinations and Divisions around the world. It has ownership of key company channels and publications, including the company intranet and future enhancements to the team member experience.
As a key communications leader, this role will also be responsible for working with Human Resources, Operations and other internal business groups to drive employee engagement, reinforcing our culture, and aligning team members with the company’s vision, purpose priorities and values. In addition, this role will be responsible for developing enterprise-level communication plans for key global business initiatives.
The Senior Director will contribute to attracting talent to UDX and its various Destinations and Divisions, positioning UDX as an employer of choice in the external marketplace and supporting broader reputation-building plans that position the company as a premium destination for our guests and visitors world-wide, industry leader and disruptor, and a strong community citizen and good neighbor.
This senior leader will also have responsibility to lead and drive executive communication for various global leaders and begin the work to unite key divisional and destination Internal Communications teams ensuring successful delivery of internal communications activities in their respective areas. The role requires an experienced communications strategist and tactician who embraces fast pace, new, and stimulating challenges.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Communications Strategy, Planning, Execution, Global Alignment, and Team Leadership:
- Develop and lead a renewed and enhanced global employee communications strategy designed to foster a ‘one company’ mindset and that is aligned with company goals, business priorities, and the company’s brand purpose and voice.
- Design and deliver proactive, compelling corporate-level communications plans, campaigns, and related content for enterprise-wide initiatives, product launches, business announcements, organizational changes, and corporate events.
- Drive employee communications activities that promote, enhance, and protect UDX’s employer brand reputation and the various division and destination reputations.
- Drive a steady pace of communications content that drives awareness and understanding of UDX’s company ambition, vision, values, and long-term strategy, and support Destination strategies.
- Work closely with destination and division communications teams and HR leads to ensure consistent messaging and tailored approaches that reflect local cultures and languages.
- Contribute to and help shape Destination-level issues and crisis management scenarios where Team Members need to be reached (e.g.– weather-related events).
- Lead team responsible for global internal communications, executive communications, and corporate initiatives and oversee their daily work product. Collaborate with Destination-level teams and help shape activity, aligned to enterprise strategies and initiatives.
Company Channel Ownership, Content Strategy, Optimization, and Measurement:
- Create a compelling, consistent, and audience-relevant content and editorial strategy that includes messaging and content for various internal channels (e.g., intranet, newsletters, digital signage, video, mobile apps, live events) that celebrate our culture, highlight employee achievements.
- Own all company channels, publications, and vehicles and support their ongoing development and delivery.
- Support D&T team in the exploration and launch of new internal-facing tools and technology that touch Team Members to find synergy and identify communication gaps. Optimize use of communication platforms and tools; assess internal communications technology and recommend enhancements for greater reach and impact.
- Develop KPIs and feedback loops to assess the effectiveness of communication strategies, content and channels; continuously improve based on analytics and employee feedback.
Executive Communications, Content and Employee Meetings & Events:
- Develop and deliver content in support of enterprise-level executive communication strategies and content for key Destination & Division leaders.
- Drive strategy and content for global in-person leadership summit and webcasts. Partner closely with senior leadership to support change initiatives and draft written communication, speeches, videos etc. Support Town Halls and Roadshows within UDX and coordinate with Comcast and NBCU teams to support their internal meeting needs.
- Provide strategic communication counsel and execution support during times of organizational change, transformation, or crisis.
- Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related field required.
- Master’s degree a plus.
EXPERIENCE:
- 10+ years related experience required in corporate and / or employee/internal communications, preferably in a global, consumer-facing organization; 3+ years of supervisory experience.
- Proven ability to lead complex communication initiatives across a large and diverse workforce.
- Exceptional storytelling, writing, and editing skills
- Strong executive presence and experience supporting senior leadership.
- Collaborative mindset and ability to build strong cross-functional partnerships.
- Familiarity with internal communications platforms and tools (e.g., SharePoint, Poppulo, Firstup, Microsoft 365, Slack, video production)
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
APR or CPRC certification a plus
