Technical Content Specialist, Facility Services

JOB SUMMARY:

The Technical Content Specialist is responsible for the creation of digital content in the best format that suits the training needs of Facility Services. This includes written, video, presentation style, and web-based training for Facilities/Utilities modules and other training materials as directed. The position will also execute projects involving technology upgrades and is responsible to train users on the new technology. The role is expected to professionally collaborate with all departments of Facility Services including engineering and leadership to complete job responsibilities.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop technical training manuals for Facility Services, maintenance guides and other documentation by consolidating information from various sources into a user-friendly format with a focus toward on-line use by the trainee.
  • Work closely with the technicians, engineers and management to document step-by-step procedures that incorporate high-level understanding of the operation of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and related systems.
  • Project management of new technology such as tablet rollout, digitization of processes, learning software integration. Assist in other larger technology efforts for Facility Services by working with other departments. Work with process improvement projects involving Maximo efficiencies.
  • Provide advice for the ongoing development of the Training program within Facility Services. Meet with the Trainers to assist them with planning and development.
  • Provide feedback and guidance to help ensure a successful training strategy that meets the goals of Facility Services management.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing or electrical/mechanical systems with an emphasis on technical writing preferred.
  • Equivalent experience in lieu of education is acceptable.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years writing compliance, technically oriented procedures, or documentation.
  • Previous experience in writing or developing training materials is desired; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
