JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for overseeing the daily operations of technical entertainment for Universal Kids Resort (UKR). Manages technical requirements for entertainment projects and/or venues and ensures show quality, safety, and a positive Guest experience are met within schedule, financial, and show quality requirements. Oversees and facilitates the hiring, training, scheduling, and development of hourly Technicians specializing in Audio, Video, Lighting, Rigging, Staging, Special Effects, and Show Controls. Supports technical entertainment initiatives for seasonal and special events and coordinates across Entertainment to ensure a smooth operation.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages the day-to-day technical entertainment operation of all entertainment projects and shows/venues including management of all hourly Entertainment Technicians while providing project direction, coordination, and instruction. Oversees technical aspects throughout the theme park related to audio, video, lighting, rigging, staging, special effects, and show controls. Manages the planning, execution, safety, and quality assurance of all entertainment technical operations and troubleshoots system problems and if necessary, repairs in real time during rehearsal or show. Responsible for supporting operational readiness of entertainment offerings and effectively communicating necessary information to key stakeholders and leadership for alignment and a seamless operation.
  • Effectively collaborates with Entertainment Production and Entertainment Operations teams on technical elements of daily operations, projects and events. Oversees and coordinates the completion of work by vendors or internal partners (Technical Services, Operations, EHS) to support capital, special events, seasonal projects, and other assigned projects, effectively representing Entertainment interests. Quickly identifies issues, providing resolution when possible, and/or appropriately escalating issues to ensure successful completion of all assigned projects within the pre-determined schedule, financial, and quality requirements.
  • Responsible for the hiring, training, coaching and development of Entertainment Technical Team Members. Leads, coaches and mentors team by providing feedback on performance, quality control, safety, administering development plans on a regular basis, provides timely feedback, effectively schedules Technicians, and manages their time and attendance. Monitors and enforces safety compliance and adherence to all Universal policies and procedures governing the safe operation of all technical equipment. Mitigates overtime by adjusting staffing according to daily attendance projections.
  • Oversees the capital and expense budgets and ensures financial responsibility and labor optimization. Routinely and regularly manages capital requests and execution of approved capital projects, ensuring priorities are regularly reviewed.
  • Drives and executes initiatives that directly affect Team Member satisfaction (TSAT), Guest satisfaction (GSAT), and safety standards while utilizing existing tools to measure and monitor performance against targets. Develops appropriate action plans to achieve or exceed targets.
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UDX policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Supervises a Non-Exempt team.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 3+ years of experience in technical entertainment with 1+ year of supervisory experience required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
