POSITION TITLE:

  • Tech II, Rigging

JOB SUMMARY:

Provides the highly skilled, discipline specific technical skills needed for the successful operation and maintenance of the Rigging and Staging elements for assigned Entertainment venues, projects, events.

Responsible for the appropriate implementation of all policies and procedures, including high-risk, for assigned area and team, as defined by ANSI, ESTA, and Universal Orlando, governing the safe operation of all technical equipment.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Functions as the up rigger for installations and strikes within the assigned venue, project, event, or production. Assists with the operation of rigging and staging equipment. Assesses Hazards associated with rigging and staging equipment or systems. Immediately elevates identified hazards to Lead for mitigation determination. Responsible for the appropriate installation/setup, storage, strike, and transportation of Rigging and Staging equipment. Elevates any technical problems or concerns to Lead or management as they occur.
  • Operates large vehicles and heavy equipment. Lifts and places irregular objects and maneuvers equipment in all directions in challenging spaces. Acts as a spotter and provides correct hand signals for vehicles, heavy equipment, and hoist operation to ensure safety and to protect UO’s assets.
  • Assists Tech I with inventory, maintenance, and inspection of rigging and stagging equipment. Submits proper paperwork for daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly inspections.
  • Responsible for effectively communicating pertinent information, both written and verbal, which pertains to the technical operation of the assigned entertainment venue/event, to other disciplines, entertainment tech management, and team members of the venue/event.
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: 

  • Technical school is preferred.

EXPERIENCE: 

Required:

  • 2-5 Years experience within the assigned technical discipline.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience within the professional theme park/theater industry in a technical capacity (Rigging and Staging); or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Valid Florida Driver’s License is required to operate company vehicles.
  • UO provided annual training is required for heavy equipment operation.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Accountable to strictly adhere to all policies and procedures, as defined by the Entertainment Department, governing the safe operation of all technical equipment.
  • As directed, may assist in technical training and implementation of all training materials. Maintains and shares job knowledge and assists in developing Team Members.
  • This position will be required to work outdoors in various weather conditions, and will need to access building rooftops via fixed ladders & open staircases.

 

POSITION TITLE:

  • Tech III, Rigging

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for following all policies and procedures, including high-risk, for assigned area and team, as defined by ANSI, ESTA, and Universal Orlando, governing the safe operation of all technical equipment.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Will act as a ground rigger while assisting with installation / strike of the rigging and staging equipment within the assigned venue, project, or event.  Assists with the preparation, loading, unloading and transportation of rigging and staging gear and other equipment and materials.
  • Assisting with the use and operation of the rigging and staging equipment within the assigned venue, project, or event.
  • Responsible for the appropriate maintenance of rigging and staging equipment under the supervision of the Lead Tech 1.
  • Operates large vehicles and heavy equipment.  Acts as a spotter and provides correct hand signals for vehicles to protect UO’s assets.
  • Assists in inspecting department’s equipment inventory.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
