JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for supervising all general Arboriculture maintenance activities to ensure the highest possible quality standards for UO landscape areas. In addition to overseeing and implementing all UO safety policies and procedures among team members.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Creates and disseminates Arboriculture work schedules using the Kronos time and attendance management system. Completes employee performance appraisals, tracks necessary EHS training needs, and provides resources for Arboriculture team members to improve their horticultural knowledge and skills.
  • Coordinates and monitors RFID tree maintenance tracking system. Monitors completion of high velocity ride track critical 1 clearances in Maximo. Coordinates projects within Horticulture department and other UO departments and tracks work orders using Maximo system to support all Arboriculture needs and activities. Monitors Arboriculture budget/costs and estimates/prepares budgets for future work orders.
  • Assists and develops scope of work and issues maintenance directives for all Arboriculture team members by monitoring the cultural requirements of trees in all areas. Monitors the quality and effectiveness of Arbor work and the use of Arborist tools, equipment, and material availability. Oversees equipment distribution and preventive maintenance to all equipment. Ensures all SOP’s and safety requirements are being followed by Arboriculture team members.
  • Supervises and coordinates tree inspection, tree maintenance, planting and removal methods, principals and practices of tree assessment, site preparation, species selection, arboreal insects and disease control methods and techniques. Also, supervises proper techniques in tree pruning/trimming, installation and establishment, removal and replacement, cabling and bracing, climbing, and diagnosis and treatment of tree problems. Helps oversee any Landscape contractors
    on property for adherence to UO tree standards.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

SCOPE:

Responsible for orchestration and planning of daily Arboriculture maintenance schedules in specific areas for superb show quality results. Responsible for tracking Kronos Time and Attendance and Maximo input for each team member. Institute UO safety policy and procedures and follow up on essential coaching as deemed necessary. Coordinate and communicate with other departments in regards to special projects or events. Monitors critical tree high velocity ride track clearance specifications.

EDUCATION:

  • High school degree or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree (BA) / Associate’s degree (AS) in Horticulture or equivalent from two-year College or Technical Horticulture School or related field preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 3-5 Years in Landscape operations required
  • 1-3 years in a supervisory capacity required
  • 1-3 year’s experience working as an Arborist required

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • ISA certified required
  • Tree Risk Assessment certification required

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Ability to respond in emergency weather events to ensure UOR parks are safe to open for guests and Team Members
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; have the capacity to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
