JOB SUMMARY:

Provides the discipline specific technical skills needed to support the daily operation of the assigned entertainment venue and/or event, including the handling and operation of high-risk pyro and pyrotechnic systems. Ensures technical show quality and a positive guest experience by applying intermediate level knowledge of pyro elements. Ensure proper completion of tasks and all UO and NFPA policies, procedures and regulations are followed.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the daily operation of the pyrotechnic elements within the assigned entertainment venue and/or event. This includes the handling of explosive material and acting as a fire watch.
  • Responsible for the careful loading of pyrotechnics to preserve show quality. Maintaining the proper load layout as directed by venue training and show direction.
  • Responsible for completing pyro load and post-show cleanup, resets. Ensure that all pyro waste is disposed of properly and document any issues with pyro product.
  • Assist with the appropriate maintenance and inventory of venue equipment/supplies as assigned for proper operation, organization, and cleanliness. Notify appropriate leadership of any materials needed and any repairs needed beyond basic maintenance of the venue/show.
  • Troubleshoot and identify technical issues and when to escalate to the appropriate maintenance team and Management.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: 

  • Technical school: is preferred.
  • Associate degree (AA): is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree: is preferred.

EXPERIENCE: 

  • 2-3 years’ experience using technical control systems, likely within the theme park/theater industry in a technical capacity preferred.
  • Proven ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Intermediate knowledge in technical disciplines needed to operate assigned venue.
  • Basic computer skills with basic experience in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Valid Florida Driver License.
