JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Manager, Software Quality Engineering role is a crucial role within the UDX Global Quality Engineering department and will be responsible for leading the testing delivery efforts of one or more Value Streams in a fast-paced environment. This individual will report to the Director, Software Quality Engineering, providing day-to-day project updates, strategies, mitigation plans and seeks leadership approval for release Go-No-Go meetings. We are seeking a strong leader who can partner with senior leadership and other teams to drive quality of features from product definition to release. The successful candidate will build and lead a highly talented, diverse quality engineering team of experienced and thoughtful engineers to enable industry leading customer experiences. This position requires a self-motivated individual with strong technical, communication, people management, and project management skills to handle responsibilities including:
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee multiple QE Managers and QA teams (e.g., Web, Mobile, Commerce, RevOps etc.) to streamline and execute a robust and sustainable testing process. Work within quality frameworks to ensure stability, efficiency, and scalability. Responsible for the integrity of testing and acceptance activities and coordination of the execution of these activities. Reviews requirements and specifications and defines automated test solutions.
- Carries out leadership responsibilities for the QA team which includes coaching, mentoring, hiring and onboarding of new team members.
- Create and manage software quality SLA and refine metrics and report testing metrics. Maintain and guide Test Automation suites execution and undertake analysis of results to ensure that software meets or exceeds specified standards and technical requirements.
- Manage budget for the assigned Value Stream Testing activities.
- Research, Pilot and identify tools and processes to improve quality and implement world class strategy for regression and feature testing.
- Partner with solution delivery and enterprise services teams for application software quality and defect resolution.
- Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university preferred in software development, computer science, or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE:
- 9+ years experience leading software quality teams, both manual and automation. 2+ years managing managers.
- 5+ years in designing/reviewing Project Estimation/Sizing, Test Plan, Test Strategy, Testing Road Map, Issue List, Daily Status Report, Weekly Status Report, Test Summary Report, Traceability Matrix, Test Condition, Test Script and preparation of Test Data manually.
- 3+ years experience in managing test automation team with responsibility for utilization, assignments and reporting.
- 3+ years experience in handling multiple projects, estimation, forecasting, metrics collection and team management.
- Good to have - Experience in building test automation strategy for eCommerce, web, mobile, and revenue management applications.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with high emotional intelligence and the ability to influence across all levels — from executive partners to individual contributors — and build strong cross-functional relationships.
- Excellent organization, prioritization, and strategic planning skills. Ability to manage resources effectively, represents the team and remove hurdles to enable each team member to operate at the highest level of efficiency and productivity.
- Experience in direct responsibility for supervising personnel (i.e., set goals, assign work, review performance, and conduct career development discussions).
- Experience with structured test methodologies, process improvement, QA automation and performance testing tools;
- or equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Establish long-term quality direction, success criteria, tracking, and reporting across entire platform(s). Define release quality gates and exit criteria; communicate quality risks and go/no-go recommendations to leadership, across quality areas, not only quality areas owned by this team.
- Build and scale the team's test automation infrastructure, establish frameworks and tooling to support rapid iteration.
- Present team’s work to leadership, communicating roadmap status, technical direction, and advocating for resources.
- Defend and empower your quality team, working to fix broken tools or processes and instilling a respectful, high-achieving team culture.
- Dive deep into technical problems and guide the team through complex technical trade-offs.
- Think creatively about how to leverage GenAI tools to empower the quality team.
Technical Skills
- Tools: Test Automation frameworks - Selenium, Playwright, Test enabler applications like – Jira, QMetry or equivalent, Mercury LoadRunner or similar, Appium, ReadyAPI, LambdaTest or similar, database testing, java, and web test tools etc.
- Knowledge in Development Languages is a plus: HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, Java, SQL, .Net, NodeJS.
- SD Methodologies: Agile - Scrum/ SAFe (recommended), Waterfall, Kanban
- Architecture: OOP, client server, web based and mobile applications a plus
- Databases: MS SQL Server, My SQL
- Infrastructure: Cloud, M365, SVN, IntelliJ IDE
- Operating Systems Windows and Mac OS
- Software and Tools: GitHub and Team Foundation Server (TFS)
