Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the prop captains and design staff in the conception, quality, and timely production of properties on projects as assigned.
  • Read and interpret scaled drawings, sketches, models, and pictures for the engineering of properties. Create and construct stage properties from verbal descriptions.
  • Build props for productions. These projects may include but are not limited to furniture, hand and set props, set dressing, and soft goods.
  • Build rehearsal props as needed.
  • Assist in the estimating of materials needed for specific projects.
  • Help with installations and strikes.
  • Maintain and repair props for short term and long-term projects.
  • Assist in maintaining prop inventory and restock.
  • Perform and promote safe practices either in the shop or onsite.
  • Maintain order, cleanliness, and security of the Entertainment Production Center’s prop shop, including props, drapery, tools and hardware stock. Maintain a safe, healthy and tidy work/shop environment.
  • Monitor and maintain a safe and secure environment for both team members and guests of all ages, following all company guidelines and protocols.
  • Identify, de-escalate, and resolve conflicts or disturbances professionally and effectively to maintain a positive atmosphere.
  • Provide a positive and welcoming experience for guests of all ages while maintaining composure during difficult interactions.
  • Maintain a high level of trust and integrity to promote a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for customers and colleagues of all ages.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years old or older
  • Minimum of three years of professional experience in theatrical prop and furniture construction, with demonstrated expertise in industry-standard techniques, materials, and processes acquired through formal education and/or hands-on production work.
  • Proven proficiency in a variety and combination of fabrication skills, scenic crafts, molding and casting, decorative painting, sewing, and 3D printing, with the ability to work across a wide range of materials including wood, metal, plastics, and textiles.
  • Skilled in the safe and effective operation of shop and sewing equipment, including but not limited to sewing machines, sergers, table saws, radial arm saws, drill presses, sanders, and a variety of hand tools. Strong understanding of workplace safety protocols and best practices in a production environment.
  • Computer operation with usage of e-mail, Adobe Photoshop, Acrobat, FileMaker, internet navigation, and Microsoft Office suite programs including Word and Excel
  • Paper props and graphic skills a plus.
  • Working knowledge of safety standards and the implementation of same.
  • Background in theatrical production.

Pay:

  • $28 per hour
