The RMU Radio Music Manager is the student worker responsible for all the music operations of RMU-Radio, supporting hosts and producers and engaging both campus and local musicians on RMU Radio. The Music Manager also administers the radio playlist according to the needs of all Academic Media Center (AMC) student, staff, and faculty stakeholders, as well as RMU Radio's growing local and global audiences.
The Music Manager administers and curates the RMU-Radio playlist through Backbone Software. This includes: keeping the playlist relevant with popular music, downloading and uploading tracks, reaching out to local/campus musicians for songs to air on the Local Musicians block of RMU-Radio, creating special event playlists, and adding ads and podcasts to the server to break up music. The Music Manager coordinates with Program Director to ensure content is up to standards for station and does not interfere with Live Content, plans music blocks during "dead air" time, and designs playlists for remote events through Spotify/Apple Music. The Program Manager coordinates with Radio Club officers to support regular club meetings, attends all meetings on behalf of the AMC, and works with the Radio Graduate Assistant to represent RMU-Radio to the campus community. Finally. the Music Manager troubleshoots the Backbone software and resolves issues that may arise from user error, promptly communicating all issues to the staff Radio and Television Engineer.
All majors are welcome, regardless of prior experience in radio. Active membership (before and during the work-study) in Radio Club is strongly encouraged.
