The Robert Morris University (RMU) Academic Media Center (AMC) seeks a motivated and dynamic individual to serve as its Student Media - Graduate General Manager (GGM) for the 2022-23 academic year. The GGM supports the day-to-day operations of AMC's converged media platforms (especially RMU Radio and RMU TV) including scheduling, data-driven decision-making, and strategic project management (including revenue generating initiatives). The GGM also supports experiential learning and professional development for undergraduate student leaders, program participants, and work study students. 


The GGM provides critical support to the day-to-day and strategic operations of the AMC's facilities and equipment, including the RMU Radio and RMU TV studios, and also serves as a liaison to AMC-hosted independent student media - RMU Sentry Media, including the Colonial Sports Network, RMU Live, RMU Focus, Where's the News, and other productions of Sentry Media. The GGM champions undergraduate experiential learning by providing programming, administrative and fiscal management support to student leadership while ensuring all AMC policies and procedures are met. The GGM also supports the AMC staff by taking leadership over one or more departmental initiatives related to their program of study, including but not limited to internet radio and streaming video, media security, data management /data-driven decision-making, brand development, social media management, and organizational leadership to AMC staff. The position is responsible for tracking all spending. The position reports to the Director of the AMC. 

The GGM assists the AMC Production Coordinator, Sentry Media Adviser and AMC Director in assisting RMU Radio and RMU TV. Responsibilities include: scheduling of programs; the promotion of programs, special events, operation training and coordinating radio remotes; working with the Director of the Academic Media Center, the AMC staff and the faculty adviser(s) of the RMU Radio and Television Clubs. 

The GGM will be responsible for organizing the TV and Radio facilities and their associated equipment. 

-assisting AMC office and production as needed. 

-attending all meetings for AMC, RMU Radio and RMU TV (and other student clubs housed in the AMC as directed). 

-coordinating social media strategy for RMU Radio in collaboration with RMU TV programming and Sentry Media's converged media strategy. Generating the reports from data persistent systems and providing recommendations to improve cross-platform content (live show and podcast) accessibility to audiences. 

At the direction of AMC staff, the GGM might lead a project to build the audience for RMU Student Media in coordination with the Radio and TV clubs' on air hosts, or university and other stakeholders. 

The GGM also could plan and execute new initiatives related to the GGM's own program of study, including but not limited to internet radio and streaming video, media security, data management, brand development, social media management, or organizational leadership. 

This position will serve as a catalyst for training and mentoring future Graduate Assistants interested in media operations and management. The student will ensure the continued success and legacy of web-based audio and video programming at Robert Morris University.  

Minimum Qualifications:

Preferred field of study in CIS (e.g. Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, or Information Systems), Organizational Leadership, Management, or a closely related field Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google applications. Proficient in internet/web systems (web video, internet radio and podcast platforms, etc.) Possess knowledge of standard business operations, inventory management, ordering and pricing, sales, and marketing. Possess knowledge of general office equipment, personal computers, copiers, and scanners. Practice effective leadership skills - including active listening, delegating, motivating, and providing feedback to small teams. Possess good organizational and time management skills. Possess strong attention to detail. Possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to carry out assigned tasks and projects without close supervision. Ability to exercise good judgment and initiative. Ability to maintain confidentiality and security of all information. Ability to perform and lead in a fast-paced, student-centered team environment Willingness to learn all job duties, and accept new job duties as needed. Prior work experience, preferably as a student and/or at a college or university
