The Robert Morris University (RMU) Academic Media Center (AMC) seeks a motivated organizational leader to serve as Scrum Master (SM), who guides and mentors project teams in student media, center operations, and institutional media production. The SM works with the AMC director (Lead Product Owner) to manage project backlogs and assists the staff leaders (Product Owners) in ensuring each development team follows effective practices. The SM also mentors and motivates the teams in improving their processes, facilitating decision-making, and helping eliminate barriers. This position includes training and certification in Agile Scrum.
The Scrum Master is the go-to member of the AMC team to ensure that each project team follows Scrum practices, leading to high-quality media results for the campus community. The AMC SM uses professionally focused values and practices to help the AMC plan, manage, and deliver solutions across three project teams - Student Media, Operations, and Institutional Media. The SM's responsibilities include managing timelines, resolving problems and coaching team members on Agile methodologies. The SM also supports the AMC staff by taking leadership over one or more departmental initiatives related to their program of study. The position is responsible for tracking all spending. The position reports to the Director of the AMC. Job Duties: Assisting the AMC Director, managing and updating the master project backlog. Participating in alternating weekly scrum team sprint planning/review meetings as well as the product owners meeting. Scheduling and facilitating scrum events, meetings, and decision-making processes. Monitoring progress and performance and helping teams to make improvements. Ensuring the proper use of collaborative processes and removing impediments for each scrum team. Tracking project processes, deliverables, and financials. Preparing and presenting status reports to stakeholders. This position will serve as a catalyst for training and mentoring future Graduate Assistants interested in media operations and management. The student will ensure the continued success and legacy of web-based audio and video programming at Robert Morris University.
Preferred field of study in CIS (e.g. Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, or Information Systems), Organizational Leadership, Management, or a closely related field Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google applications. Proficient in internet/web systems (web video, internet radio and podcast platforms, etc.) Possess knowledge of standard business operations, inventory management, ordering and pricing, sales, and marketing. Possess knowledge of general office equipment, personal computers, copiers, and scanners. Practice effective leadership skills - including active listening, delegating, motivating, and providing feedback to small teams. Possess good organizational and time management skills. Possess strong attention to detail. Possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to carry out assigned tasks and projects without close supervision. Ability to exercise good judgment and initiative. Ability to maintain confidentiality and security of all information. Ability to perform and lead in a fast-paced, student-centered team environment Willingness to learn all job duties, and accept new job duties as needed. Prior work experience, preferably as a student and/or at a college or university
