About the department / center:
CLSC (pronounced “classic”) offers individuals with intellectual disabilities academic, career, and independent-living instruction at UD that prepares them for future employment or further education. As day students or students living on campus in residence halls, for two years or four years, they participate in classes, clubs, campus events, internships, and work experiences.
Role Description:
The Career & Life Studies Certificate (CLSC) Program is seeking Internship Coaches, Point Coaches, and Teaching Assistants for the Spring 2025 semester.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Career Coaches; support CLSC students on-site at internships, job shadows and in completing internship evaluations. CLSC internships occur on or off campus depending on the students’ goals. Once students identify the natural resources at the site, the
coach fades support.
- Point Coaches provide 1:1 Coaching in Academics, Career Exploration, Campus Engagement, and Life Strategies through person-centered planning for four hours per week. These sessions are built into student and coaches’ schedules in two 2-hour sessions at consistent scheduled times every week, much like a class.
Qualifications:
- Pursuing a relevant degree in human services, psychology, education, social work, or other related fields is preferred.
- Willingness to receive guidance from supervisors, with a focus on continuous personal and professional growth.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both one-on-one and small group settings.
- Demonstrated ability to actively listen to others' needs, showing empathy and understanding in response.
- Capacity to approach challenges with analytical thinking, identify solutions, and apply them effectively to support individuals through problem solving.
