About the department / center:
The Center for Health Profession Studies assists students and alumni across all colleges in exploring and successfully transitioning to post-graduate education in health professions. We support students in academic and co-curricular preparation to enter health profession programs through advising and partnerships with academic units, student organizations, and affiliated programs.
Role Description:
The Center for Health Profession Studies is seeking a responsible, motivated undergraduate student to contribute towards the success of our sponsored pre-health programs. CHPS manages the Medical Scholars Program (MSP), Health Professions Evaluation Committee (HPEC), Pre-Health Professions Living Learning Community (PHP-LLC), and run a pre-health Study Abroad program. Each program and process at CHPS requires administrative and day-of support that the peer mentor can provide a valuable undergraduate perspective and voice to.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Support our graduate assistant with co-planning engaging activities and events for our freshman Pre-Health Professions Living Learning Community (PHP-LLC).
- Help the CHPS graduate assistant with any appropriate administrative tasks such as creating advertising flyers, canvas posts, event materials, etc.
- Attend CHPS admin team meetings, as appropriate
- Participate in CHPS events including, but not limited to:
- Attend all PHP-LLC events (Two evenings a month)
- Blue & Golden Days (One Saturday a month over fall semester)
- Decision Days (One Saturday a month over spring semester)
- Clinical Connection Event(s)
- Health Profession Evaluation Committee (HPEC) programming, as appropriate
Qualifications:
- Enrolled student at the University of Delaware in good academic standing with at least Junior status (60+ credits)
- Pursuing a healthcare profession pathway
- Participation in at least one CHPS sponsored program (i.e. HPEC, MSP, PHP-LLC, Study Abroad, UNIV101 section, etc.)
- Involvement in at least one health related RSO
