The Lee Lab at the University of Delaware, located on the STAR campus, is seeking a reliable and well-organized undergraduate or graduate student to assist part-time with laboratory maintenance and plant care duties.
Role Description:
The Lee Lab at the University of Delaware, located on the STAR campus, is seeking a reliable and well-organized undergraduate or graduate student to assist part-time with laboratory maintenance and plant care duties. Our lab investigates fundamental mechanisms of plant cell-to-cell communication and is developing a novel plant-based platform for producing gene therapy vectors. You would be supporting this research by keeping the lab and plants in excellent shape. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a university research environment. No prior lab experience is required and all majors are welcome and we will train you.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Routine care of research plants in growth chambers (watering, monitoring, transplanting, disposing)
- General laboratory maintenance, organization, and upkeep
- Preparing and maintaining laboratory supplies, media, and reagents
- Keeping workspaces clean and properly stocked
- Assisting lab members with basic tasks as needed
Qualifications:
- A minimum one-year commitment is required
- What matters most is that you are well organized, dependable, and bring strong work ethic.
- We are looking for someone who is careful and detail-oriented with hands-on tasks and comfortable handling delicate plants, small labware, and precise work with care.
- Any prior work experience that demonstrates reliability and attention to detail, whether in a restaurant, retail, custom service, or any other setting, is valued and welcome.
