Schedule: Day. Up to 10 hours per week, including weekly research team meetings

Location: Hybrid. Most work will be completed remotely. On-site work, when needed, will take place in Willard Hall.

About the department / center:

Our GUR-funded pilot study explores how existing professional learning communities and instructional coaching can support educators working with multilingual learners, and how a coaching framework can be refined based on teachers’ everyday experiences and needs. We hope the study will generate practical insights for our partner school and contribute useful knowledge for educators and researchers in multilingual education.

Role Description:

We are seeking a UD undergraduate student to join our research team for the 2026 to 2027 academic year. This position offers hands-on experience with qualitative educational research and the opportunity to learn how collaborative research is conducted in partnership with a local school. The student will work closely with the research team and receive training in project-specific research procedures.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Handle participant data with confidentiality and discretion and follow study procedures for data security.
  • Assist with data entry, tracker maintenance, transcription review, and preparation of research materials.
  • Maintain study files in Google Drive using established folder structures and file naming conventions.
  • Participate in weekly research team meetings.
  • Communicate promptly and reliably with the research team about assigned tasks, progress, scheduling, and any issues that arise.
  • Engage actively in project-related training and the research process.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Strong interest in educational research, intellectual curiosity, and willingness to learn qualitative research approaches
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work carefully and consistently with research materials
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to follow established research and data management procedures
  • Ability to communicate reliably and work collaboratively as part of a research team
  • Reliable weekly availability for up to 10 hours per week throughout the 2026 to 2027 academic year, including weekly research team meetings
  • Basic proficiency with Google Drive, Google Docs, and Google Sheets
  • Must complete CITI Human Subjects Research training before accessing any study data. Training will be completed under the guidance of a doctoral research assistant.

Preferred, not required

  • Coursework related to literacy, language education, multilingual learner education, TESOL, or bilingual education
  • Prior experience with research, data management, transcription, or other detail-oriented academic work
  • Experience working with schools, educators, multilingual learners, or culturally and linguistically diverse communities
  • Spanish proficiency is a plus
