Job Title: Pre-Law Advisor for Application Support and Interest Development
Department: Office of Career Development and Experiential Learning
Student Employment Type: Graduate Assistant (Hourly)
Responsibilities:

Administrative Support

  • Collaborate in the Office of Career Development and Experiential Learning to achieve administrative, advising, programmatic, and assessment goals.
  • Other duties related to the Office of Pre-Law Advising goals, metrics, and mission.

Applicant Advising

  • Academic and extracurricular advising of undergraduate students interested in law school and legal careers.
  • Review of law school applications materials including personal/diversity statements and resumes in line with current cycle expectations for undergraduate students and alumni.
  • Provide counsel on issues occurring throughout the law school application process including target goals, financial aid, and ultimately matriculation/school choice.

Aspirant Development

  • Develop and facilitate informational programming purposed to recruit, connect with, and nurture pre-law interested students
  • One-on-one and group advising meetings to explore opportunities and strategies for undergraduate students and alumni to enhance their applicant profiles on scheduled and walk-in basis.
  • Collaborate with Admissions, law-related academic departments, and Quinnipiac Pre-Law Society to cultivate pre-law interest within University applicants and students

Resource provision

  • Participate in joint and individual training on all aspects of the current and upcoming law school application cycles, curriculums and experiences, and general trends of the industry.
  • Serve as resource for and referral destination for university partners who encounter and seek to connect undergraduate students with the Office of Pre-Law Advising
Qualifications:
  • Current Juris Doctor candidate in Quinnipiac University School of Law
  • Knowledge of law school application process
  • Desire to work with undergraduate students to expand interest in legal education and career pathways
Hours of Position:
  • To be determined with supervisor
  • Primarily between 9:00 a.m. ad 5:00 p.m. Monday to Friday but also including some weekends (i.e. Admissions-sponsored Admitted Students Days and Open Houses)
