Overview: Quinnipiac University is seeking a Director of CARE and Wellness in Student Affairs to play a vital role in supporting our students' well-being. This position focuses on helping students of concern who come to the Dean of Students Office, offering guidance for those facing challenges in areas like medical and mental health, socialization, academics, and behavior. As Director of CARE and Wellness, you'll connect students with timely, appropriate interventions to ensure their success at the University and monitor their progress. In addition, you’ll lead wellness initiatives and special projects under the guidance of the Associate Dean of Student Affairs for Health & Wellness, contributing to a compassionate, supportive and inclusive campus community.

Responsibilities:

• Serves as the Chair of the CARE team and provides training and resources; obtains updates on students of concern, and facilitates information flow between CARE Team and other stakeholders on behalf of the CARE Team; ensures best practices; provides updates and trends to CARE members
• Supervises the Assistant Director of CARE for Student Affairs
• Monitors the daily On-Call Report submitted by the On-Call staff; directs the staff to follow-up and consults and informs the appropriate staff as needed. Attend weekly meetings to pre-identify students of concern for CARE Team and/or direct follow-up
• Oversees record keeping process (Maxient) for CARE Team and other students of concern by collecting, evaluating, and recording pertinent facts pertaining to student cases
• Serves as a primary resource for managing student issues related to medical, mental health, socialization, academic and/or behavioral needs that may impact a student’s ability to function successfully at the university
• Manages student referrals from students, families, faculty, staff, and other members of the university community and provides feedback to referral sources as appropriate
• Meets and consults with students to identify barriers and to develop resolutions in support of their success at QU
• Evaluates and consults on referrals and ongoing cases to determine and implement appropriate intervention plans and coordinates and tracks follow‐up
• Attends and participates in New/Transfer Student Orientations
• Develops CARE protocols and provides CARE training to university staff, faculty and students
• Develops and maintains collaborative working relationships with university partners including but not limited to: Student Health Services, Counseling Services, Office of Student Accessibility, Learning Commons, Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards, Residential Life, Financial Aid, Registrar, Public Safety, and Academics Affairs
• Maintains the budget and submits monetary requests and receipts for CARE
• Maintains the updates for CARE for the Student Handbook and Academic Catalog
• Develops and implements a comprehensive assessment plan around case management and the CARE Team
• Prepares and delivers presentations to students, faculty, families and/or staff on issues around students of concern
• Maintains active membership and involvement in Student Affairs national, regional, and state association
• Represents the Dean of Students Office at university events as needed
• Serves on university and divisional committees as assigned
• Supports wellness ecosystem initiatives focusing on the 10 dimensions of wellness
• Supervise MSW students that are placed as an intern for CARE
• Assists with Student Affairs assessment initiatives, reports, and statistics as needed

Education Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Higher Education or Student Affairs Administration, required
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in management of wellness based programs
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication, including public presentations 
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills  
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Superior attention to detail 
  • Demonstrated experience in communicating university policies and procedures to students, parents, s
  • Experience with Maxient software is preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite  
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and a commitment to diversity and inclusion
