Job Title: Pre-Law Advising and Career Development

Responsibilities:

Pre-Law Advising (7 hours per week):

  • Collaborate with the Office of Pre-Law Advising to support administrative, advising, and programmatic goals.
  • Advise undergraduate students interested in law school on academics, extracurriculars, and applicant profile development.
  • Review law school application materials, including personal/diversity statements and resumes, to ensure alignment with current application cycle expectations.
  • Provide guidance on law school application process topics such as target schools, financial aid, and matriculation/school choice.
  • Develop and facilitate informational programs designed to recruit, engage, and support pre-law students.
  • Meet individually or in groups with students/alumni to identify strategies for strengthening their applications.
  • Collaborate with law-related departments, the Pre-Law Society, and Admissions to build interest in legal education pathways.
  • Serve as a resource and referral contact for faculty and staff seeking to connect students with pre-law opportunities.

Career Development (8 hours per week):

  • Support advising and coaching related to resumes, job search, interview prep, mock interviews, and professional development.
  • Greet and assist walk-in visitors while providing a welcoming office environment.
  • Respond to inquiries via email, phone, and in-person with professionalism and customer service.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of workshops, career fairs, employer visits, and campus events.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices in career development through organizations such as NACE, NCDA, and NSEE.
  • Create and promote career-related resources, including social media content and student-facing materials.
  • Contribute to First Destination Survey (FDS) data collection and employer/student survey efforts.
  • Assist with after-hours programming, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Current Juris Doctor candidate at Quinnipiac University School of Law.
  • Knowledge of the law school application process and a demonstrated interest in supporting pre-law student pathways.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse populations.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms such as Instagram and LinkedIn
  • Commitment to fostering student growth, career readiness, and interest in legal education.
  • Flexible availability, including the ability to support evening and weekend events as needed.
Hours of Position:
  • 15 hours per week
