Graduate Assistant (GI2025)

POSITION

The Student Success Center in the College of Health and Human Development at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Graduate Assistant Pool.

Under direct supervision of the Associate Dean and general supervision of the Assistant Director for Academic Advising, the primary duties of the Graduate Assistant will be to provide the College of Health and Human Development (CHHD) with administrative support, data collection and assessment in support of Graduation Initiative 2025, and initiatives arising from the CSUF strategic plan to improve student persistence, graduation rates, and eliminate the opportunity gap for CHHD underrepresented students. 

Duties:

  • Review TDA’s, student transcripts and student records to review degree progress status
  • Create and maintain database of assigned cohorts to track student degree progress and high need courses
  • Outreach and follow up to students to make recommendations based on student record reviews
  • Document outreach efforts and results of outreach to designated students
  • Monitor and track student enrollment, To-do lists, service indicators and overall student records of assigned cohorts
  • Record student performance before and after the semester, record any needed recommendations, and follow up with students on recommendations
  • Collect data pertinent to GI2025 efforts
  • Make appropriate referrals to professional CHHD staff, other departments and resources as necessary
  • Perform other duties or projects as assigned

This is a temporary part-time position and the Graduate Assistant will be scheduled for work up to 15 hours per week between the hours of 8am-5pm M-F.

REQUIRED
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current acceptance or enrollment in a graduate program within the College of Health and Human Development at CSUF
  • Meet eligibility for GA employment and be in good academic standing
  • Ability to collect, organize, and analyze data resulting in sound recommendations to improve student success and degree attainment
  • Ensure the security of confidential documents and data/information and material handled and/or delivered
  • A self-starter with the ability to work independently and be detail-oriented
  • Proficiency using basic office equipment (computer, copier, printer etc.) and computer software
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel
  • Ability to be dependable, punctual, and organized
  • Strong verbal/written communication and customer service skills in-person, on the phone, and via e-mail

 

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Undergraduate degree from the College of Health and Human Development

COMPENSATION

All Graduate Assistant appointments are made under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the United Auto Workers.  Initial appointments are for one semester only. 

Classification Range: $3,091 to $5,508 per month
Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $3,091.

The full-time monthly base salaries indicated above are prorated to the time based assigned.

The person holding this position is considered a ‘mandated reporter’ under the California Child Abuse And Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083, revised July 21, 2017, as a condition of employment.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the current Annual Security Report (ASR) is available for viewing at: https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. This report contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for California State University, Fullerton for the last three (3) calendar years. Paper copies are available upon request at the CSUF Police Department.

 

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR)
In addition, pursuant to the Higher Education Opportunity Act, the AFSR is also available at https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. The purpose of this report is to disclose statistics for fires that occurred within California State University, Fullerton housing facilities for the last three (3) calendar years, and to distribute fire safety policies and procedures intended to promote safety on campus.
