Job Summary

Assist IT Managers, Leads, and Staff with day to day operations.  Some of these tasks include, delivery of IT and department purchased assets to all parts of the campus. Basic installation and troubleshooting of IT technology such as desktops/iPads/laptops/printers and contacting our enormous client base through phone calls or emails. Some heavy lifting required but students will work in teams to minimize lifting. Assist with software imaging of both PC and Mac desktop and laptop systems and some data destruction, other duties as assigned.  Training will be provided. 

In addition, student assistants will be working at the front desk (located in the basement of the library) by providing customer service to faculty and staff and distributing electronic devices such as laptops, iPads, etc.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.

Desire to work with technology. Ability to multitask and take direction with a can-do attitude is a must for this position. Ability to be on time and work collaboratively with a team are also crucial to this position. Physically the candidate should be able to lift 50lbs off the ground. Previous IT experience is not required but is a plus. Also any customer service experience and basic phone etiquette will be considered as a plus. Candidate must have experience with at least two of the following Microsoft products: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint applications. 

Required Qualifications

  • Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
  • Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
  • In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
  • Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.
  • Strong interpersonal skill with ability to work and communicate well with all levels of personnel with a good customer-oriented mindset.
  •  Successful candidates must possess excellent phone, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Candidates must be able to interact professionally with users, co-workers, and supervisors.
  •  Must be able to explain technical matters clearly and without “computer jargon.”
  • Strong analytical and computer troubleshooting skills.

Background Check

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for this position. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act Notification:
Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the current Annual Security Report (ASR) is available for viewing at: https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. This report contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for California State University, Fullerton for the last three (3) calendar years. Paper copies are available upon request at the CSUF Police Department.

 

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR)
In addition, pursuant to the Higher Education Opportunity Act, the AFSR is also available at https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. The purpose of this report is to disclose statistics for fires that occurred within California State University, Fullerton housing facilities for the last three (3) calendar years, and to distribute fire safety policies and procedures intended to promote safety on campus. A paper copy of the AFSR is available upon request by contacting the Housing Office located at The Housing & Residential Engagement Main Office.
