Job Summary
Under direct supervision, Student Assistant performs duties ranging from unskilled to skilled and/or specialized, in a variety of positions that typically require the use of manual, clerical, public contact, and/or analytical skill. Assignments have limited use of discretion and judgment. Work is regularly reviewed and may entail detailed instructions.
Assist Project Managers with task support for projects. Provide campus and off-campus community with efficient and courteous interactions. Assist in organizing and maintaining an orderly storage area of marketing materials. Check and monitor the display of flyers, brochures, and posters during tabling events. Assist with inventory of and ordering of replacement materials for events. Maintain a working knowledge of and adhere to department policies and procedures. Assist with posting of signs and posters and other marketing materials for events, as needed. Maintain adherence to safety procedures; attend safety meetings and drills, as scheduled. Assist with tabling and other activities in support of after-hours events such as movie nights.
In addition, student assistant will assist with the front desk office by providing customer service to faculty, staff and students.
Minimum Qualifications

Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position. Desire to work with technology. Ability to multitask and take direction with a can-do attitude are a must for this position. Ability to be on time and work collaboratively with a team are also crucial to this position. Able to lift up to 50lbs. Candidate must have experience with at least two of the following Microsoft products: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint applications. Must be able to work outside of the normal business hours (typically Friday nights) and as needed to support events.

Required Qualifications

  • Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
  • Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
  • In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
  • Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.

Background Check

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for this position. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act Notification:
Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the current Annual Security Report (ASR) is available for viewing at: https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. This report contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for California State University, Fullerton for the last three (3) calendar years. Paper copies are available upon request at the CSUF Police Department.

 

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR)
In addition, pursuant to the Higher Education Opportunity Act, the AFSR is also available at https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. The purpose of this report is to disclose statistics for fires that occurred within California State University, Fullerton housing facilities for the last three (3) calendar years, and to distribute fire safety policies and procedures intended to promote safety on campus. A paper copy of the AFSR is available upon request by contacting the Housing Office located at The Housing & Residential Engagement Main Office.
