M - F, 5:30am - 1:30pm; up to 20 hours per week during the academic year.

Job Summary

The Landscape Student Assistant will report directly to the Landscape Manager. This student position will assist the Lead Grounds Worker and Administrative Analyst with duties. Duties include both administrative work and general gardening/landscape maintenance work, which all contribute to the overall mission for campus beautification.

We are seeking a student that is punctual and professional at work. This individual will perform a multitude of Landscape Services assignments while being exposed to new technologies, procedures, and processes. This student will be responsible for assisting in gathering data, performing data entry, and tracking inventory within the Landscape Services department to establish matrices for the department. Duties may also include working along side Leads and Grounds Workers in general improvements within the campus. The student in this position will be trained on basic gardening and grounds maintenance methods. Students will assist in planting, cultivating, and caring for hedges, ornamental trees, shrubs, lawns, and flowers, and the use and care of gardening materials, tools, and equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

The most qualified applicant is a punctual, dedicated, and enthusiastic student worker who possesses good oral and written communication skills, as well as a background in general computer skills. Must perform sit down computer work with repetitive motions. Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather. Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Will operate small cart. Must read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position; and follow simple oral and written instructions.

Required Qualifications

  • Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
  • Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
  • In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
  • Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.

Background Check

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for this position. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the current Annual Security Report (ASR) is available for viewing at: https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. This report contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for California State University, Fullerton for the last three (3) calendar years. Paper copies are available upon request at the CSUF Police Department.

 

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR)
In addition, pursuant to the Higher Education Opportunity Act, the AFSR is also available at https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. The purpose of this report is to disclose statistics for fires that occurred within California State University, Fullerton housing facilities for the last three (3) calendar years, and to distribute fire safety policies and procedures intended to promote safety on campus. A paper copy of the AFSR is available upon request by contacting the Housing Office located at The Housing & Residential Engagement Main Office.
