Classification Range $16.00 - $24.00 per hour
Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $18.00

Work Schedule

Semester hours are flexible based on the student's schedule.   Must be available 15-20 hours during the work week (Monday-Friday) and specifically, Fridays between 10:00 am – 1:00 pm to attend mandatory trainings and staff meetings. A few Saturdays for ORO department events and tours.

Job Summary

The Student Assistant for Outreach Recruitment and Orientation will assist with various programming areas within ORO. The Student Assistant will help with planning, facilitation, and assessment of the campus tours program and orientation programs. The Student Assistant will assist with the recruitment, training and supervision of Titan Ambassadors and Orientation Leaders. Additionally, the Student Assistant  will work with pro-staff on the development of the campus visit experience by editing tour scripts, assisting with scheduling tour groups, and staying up to date on campus resources and services. The Student Assistant  will assist with the collection of both qualitative and quantitative data from the campus tours program and orientation program to implement new procedures to streamline processes and improve our programs. The Student Assistant will also assist with campus wide special events such as Fall in Love with Fullerton, Super Sunday, Experience CSUF: Become A Titan, etc. The Student Assistant will be responsible for leading efforts to increase our program’s presence on social media including videos, Instagram posts, etc.

The Student Assistant is expected to:

  • Professionally serve and represent the department and the CSUF community
  • Work with diverse student and family populations to assist with the CSUF pre-admission, orientation and transition processes
  • Implement tools to track and assess program data
  • Assist with implementing and tracking feedback from campus tour guests, and orientation participants to improve the overall quality of these programs
  • Support a variety of department events such as Outreach & Recruitment Events, Experience CSUF: Become A Titan, Fall In Love with Fullerton, Orientation, and Titan Welcome Weekend
  • Support campus partners in a variety of events and initiatives related to outreach, recruitment, and orientation activities
  • Be dependable, flexible, fun, and adapt well to change
  • Serve as a role model for undergraduate student staff
  • Possess strong organizational skills
  • Be well informed about all aspects of academic and student life and services on campus.
  • Be able to assist guests by accurately answering questions about the university
  •  Use a variety of office support technology and systems such as, but not limited to, Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Zoom, Dropbox, and Excel spreadsheet packages to complete assignments
  • Manage timely responses to office correspondence, handle administrative tasks and other special projects as assigned 

Minimum Qualifications

    • Must be a currently enrolled CSUF student in good academic standing, meaning not on academic probation, continued probation, or academic dismissal
    • Must be available 10-15 hours during the work week (Monday-Friday) and specifically, Fridays from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM to attend mandatory trainings and staff meetings
    • Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.

Required Qualifications

    • Be a matriculating CSUF graduate student in an academic degree program
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Experience public speaking to small and large groups
    • Possess strong organizational skills 
    • Experience assisting with program/event planning and execution.
    • Have excellent phone and customer service skills,
    • Must maintain a valid CA driver’s license and have reliable transportation. Will need to complete Safe Driver and behind the wheel cart training

Background Check

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for this position. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the current Annual Security Report (ASR) is available for viewing at: https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. This report contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for California State University, Fullerton for the last three (3) calendar years. Paper copies are available upon request at the CSUF Police Department.

 

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR)
In addition, pursuant to the Higher Education Opportunity Act, the AFSR is also available at https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. The purpose of this report is to disclose statistics for fires that occurred within California State University, Fullerton housing facilities for the last three (3) calendar years, and to distribute fire safety policies and procedures intended to promote safety on campus.
