POSITION

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Instructional Student Assistant Pool.

We welcome applications from current CSUF undergraduate and graduate students in the Mechanical Engineering department to work with individual faculty for grading, tutoring, research, or instructional activities for Mechanical Engineering.   

This is a pool of Instructional Student Assistant for the department to draw on as necessary.

APPOINTMENTS FROM THE POOL ARE TEMPORARY AND OFTEN MADE JUST PRIOR TO THE START OF THE ACADEMIC TERM. APPLICANTS MAY BE OFFERED EMPLOYMENT ON VERY SHORT NOTICE. 

Schedule: Schedule to be determined by supervisor and program needs. 

JOB SUMMARY

An Instructional Student Assistant is a CSUF graduate or undergraduate student who is appointed at an hourly rate to assist with grading, tutoring, research, or instructional activities under the direct supervision of an appropriate faculty member.

Hours: Normal grading assignments vary from 1 hour to 12 hours a week. Students may work no more than a total of 20 hours per week.

(Monday – Friday per approval 10 to 20 hours per week at max)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Student must have completed related courses such as EGCE 201, EGCE 202, EGME 304, and EGME 331 with a grade of B or better

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in at least 6 units in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
  • Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
  • In good academic standing (not on academic notice or academic dismissal).
  • Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide eligibility documents.

COMPENSATION

All Instructional Student Assistant appointments are made under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the United Auto Workers.  Initial appointments are for one semester only.

Classification Range: $17.01 - $22.70 per hour
Anticipated hiring range depending on qualification, not to exceed $18.00

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the current Annual Security Report (ASR) is available for viewing at: https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. This report contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for California State University, Fullerton for the last three (3) calendar years. Paper copies are available upon request at the CSUF Police Department.

 

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR)
In addition, pursuant to the Higher Education Opportunity Act, the AFSR is also available at https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. The purpose of this report is to disclose statistics for fires that occurred within California State University, Fullerton housing facilities for the last three (3) calendar years, and to distribute fire safety policies and procedures intended to promote safety on campus.
