Job Summary

Outreach, Recruitment and Orientation Front Desk Student Assistant: Front line contact with students and a variety of campus and community individuals requiring active problem solving and effective interpersonal skills and providing excellent customer service

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Calling/follow up with campus staff with a variety of questions.
  • The customer Service Student Assistant will perform a range of duties including answering phone calls, responding to inquiries from students/families/faculty/employers, confirming appointments, meetings, and events. Welcoming and assisting students, staff, faculty, and visitors in a friendly and professional manner. Monitor inventory for department promotional items, printed publications, office supplies, and initiate reordering as needed. Assemble promotional items for outreach staff to distribute at school site visits and other outreach events. Manage timely responses to office correspondence and efficiently fulfill swag requests in accordance with organizational standards.
  • Check staff availability and scheduled appointments. Perform clerical duties such as filing, copying, organizing paperwork and managing the calendars. Assist Outreach, Recruitment and Orientation staff members on various projects. Assist with department events.
  • Other duties include restocking items (may include carrying and lifting), cleaning, and other tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.

Required Qualifications

  • Previous clerical or administrative support experience, including front desk or customer service experience, is preferred. This position requires fundamental written and oral communication skills, including a sound foundation in English grammar, spelling, and punctuation; an ability to understand standard office procedures; be able to apply independent judgment, discretion, and initiative to address problems and develop practical, thorough, and, at times, creative solutions.

  • Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
  • Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
  • In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
  • Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.
  • Student must have a valid California's driver's license

Background Check

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for this position. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the current Annual Security Report (ASR) is available for viewing at: https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. This report contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for California State University, Fullerton for the last three (3) calendar years. Paper copies are available upon request at the CSUF Police Department.

 

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR)
In addition, pursuant to the Higher Education Opportunity Act, the AFSR is also available at https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. The purpose of this report is to disclose statistics for fires that occurred within California State University, Fullerton housing facilities for the last three (3) calendar years, and to distribute fire safety policies and procedures intended to promote safety on campus. A paper copy of the AFSR is available upon request by contacting the Housing Office located at The Housing & Residential Engagement Main Office.
