 Monday - Friday, with a maximum of 20 hours per week. 

Job Summary

The Oral History Clerical Student Assistant will work with the Lawrence de Graaf Center for Oral and Public History (COPH) office staff to provide reference and front desk assistance, and oral history and archival processing assistance. The assistant will also perform general clerical duties and may have the opportunity to work on special projects, as directed.

• Reference: Support staff at the front desk by greeting visitors, answering inquiries, and checking in students, researchers, and other visitors. Assist with responding to public inquiries, including, conducting research and composing replies, checking in and out equipment, and preparing materials for shipment

• Oral History: Assist with transcription, auditing, editing transcripts, writing abstracts, organizing materials sent to/returned from interviewees

• Archival Processing: Assist with processing and preservation of archival (manuscript and oral history) collections, including making CD and DVD copies for narrators

• General Clerical: Return and shelve used materials; invoice, pack, and mail requested materials to remote users

• Opportunities to work on special COPH projects

• Additional tasks as requested 

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.

Required Qualifications

  • Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
  • Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
  • In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
  • Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the current Annual Security Report (ASR) is available for viewing at: https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. This report contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for California State University, Fullerton for the last three (3) calendar years. Paper copies are available upon request at the CSUF Police Department.

 

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR)
In addition, pursuant to the Higher Education Opportunity Act, the AFSR is also available at https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. The purpose of this report is to disclose statistics for fires that occurred within California State University, Fullerton housing facilities for the last three (3) calendar years, and to distribute fire safety policies and procedures intended to promote safety on campus. A paper copy of the AFSR is available upon request by contacting the Housing Office located at The Housing & Residential Engagement Main Office.
