About the Position:
The Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Equity Programs (DIEP) supports the Cal State Fullerton mission of preparing our diverse student body for academic and professional success. We develop and support practices, programming, and policies across the broad spectrum of inclusivity, equity, and civility for the Cal State Fullerton campus community. Through the provision of consultation and training, we strive to promote a campus community wherein students, staff and faculty are engaged in the values of inclusive excellence. We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Engagement and Learning Specialist (Administrative Analyst Specialist Exempt I). Within DIEP and under the general direction of the Director of Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity Programs, the Engagement and Learning Specialist provides coordination leadership for the University's effort to build and maintain a campus environment that is inclusive, pluralistic, and diverse. This position actively engages the campus community in education, strategy development, and implementation to improve and sustain engagement, inclusion, and diversity practices across the University. Responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with a variety of constituent groups on campus. Provides strategic oversight for certification education and identity-based programming in DIEP and in collaboration with campus partners. Oversees efforts to develop and facilitate learning opportunities that affirm Cal State Fullerton’s Guiding Principles for Social Justice. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications
|
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university and/or the equivalent training and administrative work experience involving the study, analysis, evaluation, development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices or programs plus two years of related experience. Working knowledge of and the ability to apply standard theories, principles, practices, and techniques applicable to the program or administrative specialty to develop conclusions and make recommendations. Thorough knowledge of policies, procedures, and outside regulations pertaining to the applicable program or administrative specialty. Working knowledge of operational and fiscal analysis and techniques. Ability to take initiative and plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved. Skilled in research, development, and evaluation of policies and programs. Ability to collect, evaluate, and interpret data to develop sound conclusions and make appropriate recommendations. Expertise investigating and analyzing problems with broad administrative impact and implications. Ability to anticipate problems and address them proactively. Demonstrated ability to effectively interpret, organize, and present information and ideas in written or presentation form. Ability to train others on new skills and procedures and provide lead work direction.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to complete the background check satisfactorily may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Preferred Qualifications
|
A graduate degree in Education, Sociology or a related field. Experience operating a learning management system. Two years of experience related to employee or student engagement, inclusion and diversity, including training, consultation, process improvement and practices around issues of social justice, employee or community engagement, and effective diversity skill development. Prior experience working at an institution of higher education.
