Instructional Student Assistant Pool

POSITION

The Department of Asian American Studies at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Instructional Student Assistant Pool.

We welcome applications from current CSUF graduate students to provide grading support for ASAM 101: Introduction to Ethnic Studies.

This is a pool of Instructional Student Assistants for the department to draw on as necessary.

During the Fall 2024 semester, grading support entails evaluating student work in ASAM 101, Sections 54, 64 and 65.

APPOINTMENTS FROM THE POOL ARE TEMPORARY AND OFTEN MADE JUST PRIOR TO THE START OF THE ACADEMIC TERM. APPLICANTS MAY BE OFFERED EMPLOYMENT ON VERY SHORT NOTICE. 

REQUIRED
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled graduate student at CSUF in good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, Dropbox, Outlook, and Zoom, and willingness to learn course specific software to better assist students.
  • Ability to learn and perform assigned work and to be available for meetings with supervising faculty member.
  • Ability to follow oral or written instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and undergraduate students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact and work effectively with a culturally diverse population of students.
  • Effective organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Preference will be given to applicants with formal study and/or work experience in an ethnic studies-related field or discipline, such as African American studies, Chicana/o studies, Women and Gender studies, American studies, Sociology, History, Psychology, English, Political Science, Liberal studies, Philosophy, Anthropology, Social Work, Public Health, and Counseling.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with prior ISA or GA work experience.

COMPENSATION

All Instructional Student Assistant appointments are made under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the United Auto Workers.  Initial appointments are for one semester only.

Classification Range: $17.86 - $23.84 per hour
Anticipated hiring range depending on qualification, not to exceed $18.70

Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act Notification:
Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the current Annual Security Report (ASR) is available for viewing at: https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. This report contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for California State University, Fullerton for the last three (3) calendar years. Paper copies are available upon request at the CSUF Police Department.

 

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR)
In addition, pursuant to the Higher Education Opportunity Act, the AFSR is also available at https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. The purpose of this report is to disclose statistics for fires that occurred within California State University, Fullerton housing facilities for the last three (3) calendar years, and to distribute fire safety policies and procedures intended to promote safety on campus. A paper copy of the AFSR is available upon request by contacting the Housing Office located at The Housing & Residential Engagement Main Office.
